shame I never got to see him play, have only seen some classic matches or highlight reels. Record speaks for itself to be honest.

My enduring memory of 'Cally' is a never say die winger,up and down that right wing all game long.
I totally associate him with the word dignity, both as a player and as a man.
He was never dirty, always a fair player and together with the likes of Chris Lawler a humble individual too.
It makes me sound old,but the current generation of Premier League superstars could learn an awful lot from the likes of Ian Robert Callaghan.

Mr Reliable, always knew exactly what you were going to get with Cally, I remember some kids used to think he was prime minister (Jim) between matches too.  If he was I guess he'd have been bloody good at that and all.

843 is just unreal. How on fucking earth... And that for a winger, players who are the most likely to get injured.
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence.

I remember Cally making his debut at Anfield as a very young lad - 17 or so, against Bristol Rovers and tearing the opposition left back to shreds. I was in the paddock that day, up near the Kop end so I got a grandstand view. I remember the Sunday papers the following day, going overboard with their praise for "Liverpool's new wonderkid." I think everyone was excited by the promise he showed that day.
"Everybody at Anfield hopes that in the not too distant future Bill Shankly will lead the club back to the First Division - and also to a Cup Final victory."

A true legend in fact the way title is misused a super legend is more like it, he reinvented himself during his career, but always modest, great to see him last night alongside Toshack at Swansea
A world were Liars and Hypocrites are accepted and rewarded and honest people are derided!
Who voted in this lying corrupt bastard anyway
