Feel so sorry for him. Luckily his game's not based on pace or tough tackling, so he shouldn't be effected too much when he makes his triumphant return

Annoying to see how many brazilians who don't watch Liverpool's games  keep judging Lucas by what he was 2/3 years ago.

I actually had to heard idiots saying 'thank god we didn't sign him' over the possibility that Lucas was close to a come back to Brazil, being speculacted on Santos and Corinthians.

Would help me warm to him, still not convinced he's anywhere near the level of say, Parker or Scott Brown.

Looked so weak defensively in the middle of the park. Their counter attacks would never have looked so easy had we had Lucas to snuff them out.

Obviously we missed Lucas. He would have scored that peno .... or the one on one chance that Johnson had .... yup missed Lucas .....

As much as I love the guy, Lucas isnt the reason why didnt win tonight. Its our inability to score bloody goals.

It's all those goals he chips in with that I think we've missed the most.

Let's be honest we're a better team when Lucas plays we all know that, but that doesn't improve our biggest problem at the moment, our awful scoring record.

Those gaps at the back, those shots the Wigan players were wide open to take outside our box... that's Lucas territory, that's where we direly missed him.

Of course there's a problem with our finishing.
But Lucas is not in the side for goals.
He is there to control midfield, to chase opposition attackers down.
He is there to win the ball, and distribute it.
We lacked his defensive pressure and his cool head.
Midfield looked a little lost and quite flustered at times.
He has a controlling, calming effect on our midfield that we quite clearly lacked.

Yes we all know this, as I have already mentioned we are a better team with him in it. There have been times this season when even with Lucas playing we have been dominated in possession for large chunks of halfs(usually 2nd Half), it's a pattern that's been quite noticeable this season.

We miss goal scorers and poachers, it's clear where the problems lie at this moment in time. Do not label me as someone who doesn't realise what Lucas adds to us. He Is one of the best in the world at what he does.

We definitely look more vulnerable without him and you can often see the gap between the back line and the rest of the team. Luckily teams we are playing are not exploiting it at the moment.

Do you not think we would have been more likely to score if we had more control over the midfield? At times today we were like headless chickens. I can't help but feel a more solid and ... erm ... trusted defensive midfielder in there would have given us a better platform to attack from.

Obviously there have been times this season with Lucas that we've not been able to create clear enough chances to score, but with him in the team, we didn't often have so little control, and so much panic throughout the team.

We fucking CLEARLY need some attackers who can create clearer chances / put chances away. No fucking doubt. But we also will struggle like fuck without Lucas. A better team than Wigan today would have put a couple passed us. Man City three times in January? *shudder*
Read my other post.

Even with Lucas there has been this pattern where for certain chunks of halfs we do seem to become sloppy and get dominated in possession. It's clear we miss Lucas, me trying to argue that I agree with that point tonight is now tiresome. My point was we'd still have the same problem, we have dominated possession with him playing and still wasted chance after chance.
