Not Beckham, sorry.

He worked his arse off to make himself a great player and no player is better at crossing the ball.

Clearly loves playing the game too which is refreshing.

Beckham is unfortunate because of the celebrity cult status he has - he is an excellent player and he showed that at United and Real.

I hear a lot about Alves being overrated, not just in here. But I think Messi wouldn't have this much of goals if it weren't for Alves. They link up brilliantly in many of the goals he score.

Also a great free-kick taker and dribbler.

Van Persie is the one that gets my goat. What is his role? Is he a winger? Play in the hole? Main striker?

I don't think he's good enough to play as a main striker. This is the first season in his career he has hit more than 11 goals in a season. 15 being his total so far. He takes alot of penalties too.

I don't think he is good enough to be the main striker at a club who want to challenge for honours. I don't think he'd get into Chelsea or United's team.

Maybe less so now, but I remember everyone going on about how great Cicinho was when he was at Madrid. I could never see it myself - he always seemed far too greedy and with a tendency to shoot really erratically. Maybe it's just me.  :-\
When he learnt he had chosen Moyes, Mou was incredulous. He screamed: ‘But he’s won nothing!’

19 goals and 8 assists in 30 games this season.......surely not good enough to be a main striker   ::)

He is a fantastic footballer when fit

pastore has massive massive talent.the price being quoted is ridiculous but in terms of his ability he is not over rated at all.
pato hernandez and van der vaart i just cannot agree with.

quaresma and ribery i agree with.two massively over rated players though ricardo seems to have dropped off the radar.

wilshere is a class  act.to put him on this list sounds like sour grapes

Pastore has massive talent but havent u seen how Zamparini hypes him .

Hernandez has done really well but buy of the Century give me a break . If he is buy of the century what should Ronaldo be termed as ?

Van Der Vaat is someone who never adopts to any formation . Not someone with good tactical intelligence for someone came from Holland .

Wilshere what exactly has he done to deserve the massive hype .Never stood out in a big match . He doesnt create much and not a great tackler either . Nor is a great passer like Alonso . Yes he is a good footballer but he has a long way to go match the hype the media is vesting on him .

No he is not. He'll be one of the best in Europe over the next ten years. On the same level as Schmeichel for me if he can hold his form.
WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!

Normally a player can look great on tubes, but one of the things that's encouraging for me is just the amount of youtube videos on him

Wilshere recieves the type of hype Lucas would if he was English. Unfortunately Lucas is Brazilian, so the media/majority of fans expected him to be a Kaka type player and were all left completely perplexed for 3 seasons before they worked out he is a DM.

Beckham was well over rated in his day, totally hyped up by the british media because of his celebrity status. Good player and must admit has grown on me as a person too. But the way people in the media would say he is one of the best in the world etc etc, he was never nearly one of the best in the world at any point.

Lucas is a DM for us  . Song plays that role for Arsenal .Wilshere plays the role that Gerrard or Alonso plays for us but he neither creates much and hardly scores ever like Gerrard and his passing isnt great like Alonso .

Also Lucas has dominated Chelsea United and City midfields this season alone . When was the last time Wilshere stood out in a big match .

hahah this thread is going mental, Neuer>Casillas, Pele and Alves overrated. :)

I was bored and had lot of time. So I got out my Pele book and waded through everyone of his matches and goals to get this stat

Pele vs European teams - 177 matches 173 goals.  :) god he would have absolutely raped any and every european league if he had been allowed to play.  And yes he played against some shit ( never heard of these teams) european teams but checking the stats he only got around 10-15 against them. Most of these 173 goals come against european national teams and recognizable European teams like Benfica, Inter , Milan, Juventus, Lazio, Roma, Newcastle, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Deportivo, Malaga, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Wolsburg, Hannover,  Napoli, Genoa, Malmo, TSV Munich, Stade Reims, Anderlecht, AEK, Olympiakos, Panathinaikos, West Ham, Fulham, Feyenoord, Basel, Lyon, Eintracht Frankfurt, Sheffield Wednesday, Schalke, Atletico Madrid, AIK (Sweden), Red Star Belgrade, Bologna, Marseille, St Etienne, Fenerbache, Girondins Bordeaux etc etc. Most importantly he scored twice against Stoke City on a cold and rainy night at the Britannia  8) .

I actually hope its the end of the he played in shit brazilian league argument. his goal scoring ratio is  better against european teams then it against brazilian teams and I was rofl when I saw scorelines like Santos 7 Inter Milan 1  :lmao. It's incredible how many people disrespect Brazilian football and I'm not even sure how this argument started in the first place. Brazil ruled football during Peles time, the best footballers of their country played in Brazil itself and South American football itself was very strong at that point.

That's actually not that bad a team though.
