Albert and Jeans on park road

The New Aigburth is dirt.

No mentions for Byrnes? Surprised. Proper chippy.

If you're ever over this side of the water visiting New Brighton, if you can't wander up the hill a bit to the upper bit of Rowson Street (Lucky Star is top notch for a Chinese) then seaside food you're looking at the Perch Fish Bar for the better food on the ones.  Not ideal but the chips hit the spot.  But yeah, Lucky Star all the way.

Oh and if you're ever in Bromborough, get yourself into the Golden Park, it's mainly a restaurant (all you can eat too!) but there's a takeaway option for the food, you won't regret it!  Don't get the chips though, they're shite.

fuck me lads..put me on a bum steer with Steve's....don't know what the specialties of the house are but the Fish n Chips I had was decidedly average...small, overdone haddock and tasteless chips...a disappointing 5/10...

The welcome chippy on priory road !

We may have found a winner... Just had it from there, very nice indeed. Also with a generous amount of fresh chips smothered in salt and vinegar. That said compared to most places in Anfield anywhere would be nice. They must all get their meat from the same kennels and my piss has more consistency than the curry sauce from most of them... Anyway, anything else from The Welcome worth trying? You had the Salt and Pepper Siu Mai?

For those of us banished outside the Liverpool boundary and into Huyton, Chans on Pilch Lane is a decent shout. The Famous Gold Star on Tarbuck Road (opposite The Crofters) used to be good, but has gone shite.
Another decent shout is the Yang Sing on Deysbrook Lane near Melwood, the portions they give you in there would seriously feed a Great Dane!

Only skim-read this thread but very few mentions of Byrnes on Stuart Road. You lot should be ashamed. Bloody southend knobheads ;)

quite right, boss chippy. When I lived near there in the nineties I was heading off somewhere dead early around 6:30am and the dad was off-loading the fish, fresh he'd bought from the market that morning, no frozen for him.

Funny thing about Liverpool chippies was I just assumed all chippies where run by Chinese or Greeks until I went to live in Nottingham as a student and they where all run by English..I found that very strange....but what they had which Merseyside chippies don't  ( to my knowledge anyway)  was sausages in batter ( mmmm!) and Savloy's...during the eighties at away game in the midlands on the way back we always stopped off by a chippy near Stoke and had savloy and chips....god! Im hungry now.

Yang Sing is a good chippy. Further up on Princess Drive you've got Jumbo's (not sure if it's the exact Jumbo's from years ago on Deysbrook shops before they built the houses, basically where Yang Sing is now). The portions in Jumbo's are outrageous, a large portion of jockeys does me and my mum and dad. Very nice food in there though and fairly well priced, always gets very busy on a weekend though so we tend to go late about 11 when it's died down.

Marie's chippy in Widnes is really nice, cheap, decent portions but has the weirdest opening times. Worth tracking down if you are into chippies but also a very small menu which is probably a strength.

Went into a Chippy in Sheffield and asked for half and half. Woman looked at me like as if I'd strolled in there naked on an Alsation. Didnt have a clue what I was on about. Explained what it was and she was like "Rice.....in a chip shop?"

The rest of England is missing a trick.
