From the Telegraph -
Carragher offered improved contract

Gerard Houllier is to give Jamie Carragher a new, improved contract this month despite the midfielder suffering a broken ankle in Liverpool's controversial victory over Blackburn two weeks ago.
The Liverpool manager was furious that his Blackburn counterpart, Graeme Souness, refused to apologise for Lucas Neill's tackle on Carragher but has moved quickly to reassure the player, who has lost the slim chance he had of making a possible England Euro 2004 squad.
The deal, which should be concluded within the next few weeks, will keep Carragher, 25, who was born in the Bootle area of Liverpool, at his home-town club for the rest of his career. "I don't like to talk about individual contract talks, but Jamie knows what we think of him and you can be sure he'll be looked after," Houllier said.
"There's nothing specific on that. No timescale. But when we want a player to stay and the player wants to stay, this club has always found a solution.
"Everyone knows what I think of Jamie. I made my feelings clear on television and in the papers after his injury at Blackburn."
Houllier added: "You can take it that by the time Jamie is back to full fitness there will be a new contract for him. He's Liverpool through and through. He loves this club and we appreciate what he does for us.
"You know what you get with Carra. He always gives his all, is always very focused and can play at right-back, left-back or even centre-back or central midfield. He never lets you down."
Great news for Jamie and great news for us
Hopefully this will give him a bit of a lift. We
certainly missed you last Saturday Carra.
