He's like a different player, a remarkable turnaround. Delighted for him & that we've got a proper CB in him now.

Who'd have thought he would be the undisputed first choice CB at the start of the season, having completely turned it around? So happy for him. Still only 27 this summer, so we'll have a solid 4-5 seasons with him at the back, if he keeps up this form.

The turn around from looking like he wasn't going to make it here to the rock he is now is nothing short of miraculous. That's klopp. He got him concentrating on his defending first and it's been a huge difference. It's no longer talked about who's coming to replace him next season. It's who's going to play alongside him. Love it.

He was everywhere in the first half, and that challenge to set up the Lallana chance was beautiful. As was one he made in the second half.

Keep it up Dejan.

Just want to say sorry for all my shithouse comments on the guy in the past, particularly last season. We've seen through Klopp that he hasn't just been good on occasions, he's been consistent, and especially brilliant in big games.

Well in, couldn't be happier that's he's turned it around.

No one was wrong to be fair. Under Rodgers he was very poor. But it's amazing what having a manager who can truly organise a defence can do for a defenders confidence. He's been a contender for player of the season.

Add me to list for that humble pie order.

From the clueless headless chicken of the past, to the calm performance he showed today. What a turnaround by him.

The difference between him and Skrtel is that when Lovren is outnumbered and is dropping off, he doesn't totally drop off and wait for the worst, he will maintain reasonable pressure and will actually attempt to put those perfectly timed last-ditch tackles in.

And so the Redemption of Dejan Lovren continues...

Obviously his turnaround massively benefits us but I'm also really, really happy for him on a personal level.

I second this.

After the amount of abuse the guy got during last (and parts of this) season, it's amazing he not only managed to turn those opinions around - he became pretty much our first-choice CB! And not because we were forced to pick him, like we had no choice at all... nope, he has improved leaps and bounds. It's on him, and he rightly deserves the praise he gets.

Football gives and football takes away - and currently, for Dejan, football's giving and giving and giving ;D

That's the Power of Klopp! 8)

A few excellent tackles yesterday - the one where he slid in, took the ball and the man then stood up and calmly played to Milner who then played in Lallana was great. The one where he stepped in, took control of a developing Villareal attack and then hared up the right wing to start an attack of our own was better. And the one to stop an almost certain goal was the best of the lot.

None of these were my favourite moment though - how good was that left-foot crossfield ball to Moreno?!

He was fantastic last night, that tackle on Bakambu had him running scared after. Lovren was the base on which that performance was built. I hope he can build a good partnership with Matip/whoever else is brought in because he and Skrtel give me nightmares together
I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

He was never as bad as people made him out to be. If you watched him in games you could see there was a good defender in there. Last season he was still winning tackles and headers like he is now but in that system he would get exposed down the sides occasionally.

Before Klopp came, Lovren was kidnapped and we played his doppelganger to keep the attention away and let the police do their work. Now he's released and back on the pitch. If this is not what happened, i have no other explanation for his transformation, one of the best defenders out there right now.

Yeah, it's not like he was the worst CB ever to have played for us as some were making him out to be. He wasn't great, mind, not by a long shot, but I'd say he is this season.

I disagree, especially during the first half of that season. He was mistiming and miss hitting headers for sure. I remember watching and criticizing it. Probably the best header in the team now, bar Lucas. I don't know if he is more focused, relaxed, or settled but he is a completely different player.

He was actually winning more aerial duels per game last season than he is so far this season.

I don't question the truth in that, just find it hard to believe. He looks a much better player now.

He looks better because he's not being exposed down the flanks like he was last season. In terms of his actual defending through the centre I don't think there has been a massive improvement.

Maybe but he isnt as rash as last season. He went for everything and got turned continuously. The amount of times i smile now when he boots it out of play is stark contrast to last season.

He was quality against Villareal. Hardly put a foot wrong, covered for Kolo when he needed to, strong - dominant.  The turn-around has been incredible.
