I just remembered Newcastle came fifth a few years back, completely forgot about that little spell.

They had a good team that season, Cabaye, Demba Ba, Cisse, Krul, etc.

I still remember when Pepe Reina got sent off in the game at St James' Park and Enrique became the goalie. Earlier, in the game at Anfield, we were drawing 1-1 only for Stevie to come on and change the fixture completely.

The following season we drew 1-1 with them at Anfield them beat them 6-0 at their place.

Good achievement by Rafa that, especially when you see how Villa and Norwich have done. Incredibly hard to bounce straight back, especially when the manager doesn't know the league.

I thought it was too much of a risk when he carried on after relegation but fair play to him, Newcastle are lucky to have him.

Yeah, I was thinking the other day that teams that go down tend to struggle to come straight back up, especially if they've been in the Premier League for a while. No doubt, Newcastle not being promoted this season would have been a failure but they've navigated it pretty comfortably, save for a little wobble these last few weeks.
