One of the most important things that helped Suarez under Brendan, who was already comfortably our best player in his first 1.5 seasons, was that the team attacked a whole lot better.
Markovic will also benefit and look better as our form improves, but I don't think we should expect that he's suddenly going to blowing anyone away anytime too soon like say, what Sterling was doing second half of last season.
I think the price tag and hype have possibly hindered his start at Liverpool. Other attacking midfielders we were linked to in the same window included Shaqiri, Isco and Sanchez, so I think there was an expectation that he would hit the ground running and be similarly as influential.
And I think the word 'influential' is key here, in the sense that, with our slow start, we would have hoped for more from a relatively big money signing to make the difference in these difficult games. Those are pretty lofty expectations for any 20 year old arriving to play for the first time at one of the top leagues, much less for Liverpool.
