Either a penalty or a goal.

Or one of the most hilariously good tackles you could possibly imagine.

Basically this basically exactly what we all imagined he might be capable of when he broke the rowing machine during his medical.
I agree with others - it was an imperious tackle. Took the risk of giving away a penalty BUT had the confidence that he would get the ball first. Impressive.

Don't think if he had not got the ball it would have been a likely goal though as Migs is an international team mate of Lukaku and so would probably have a good understanding of how he would shoot.
From Migs body shape it looks like he had it covered.

p.s. Still a beast of a tackle!  ;)

We have a very good management team, massive improvement from earlier on this season, every player looks confident

"Management team" I think Kloppo having his two dear friends working with him at Liverpool is more important than any of us realizes. Nothing like have a few sets of eyeballs looking at the training sessions and matches. None of his friends strike me as "Yes" men either. I think they speak their minds and Kloppo is confident to have differing opinions. That bodes well for the club going forward. Exciting times ahead!

Sorry mate, but totally disagree.  I go the match to follow and support my team.  There is nothing "sweet" about having tragedies used as an excuse to have a go at us.  It's totally disrespectful to those who were in any way impacted and to the lives of those who perished.   It's a new generation of fans that they have who are making the chants and there's fat chance they are going to change any time soon.  The vast majority of their fans were singing the victims chant, not a minority.

The Championship can't come soon enough for them and I hope, like has been the fate of a number of other teams, once they are gone they just keep falling.  Good riddance to them.

I am really surprised Everton fans did that. I expect it from the Mancs but not the Everton fans. Very sad.

Still can't believe how easy that game was yesterday, they never really threatened much other than the Lukaku chance where Sakho fucking wrecked him.
Also, anyone know why Mignolet wasn't playing?

Fuck that. Let him play for them, he's shite. Not only that, he'd be getting away with it by not being allowed to play in that side, being involved is clearly mental torture as we saw last night. Just wait till the next derby. One of our lads will get him.

Came out the main on Wednesday and turned left to head to Anfield Road and down toward the car park and there was a group of Everton fans with their hoods up shouting abuse and waiting for someone to react so they could start a fight. Shouting murderers and all sorts all the way down toward the main road. I expected better from them before the game because they've been supportive through the justice campaign but they can go fuck themselves now. Horrible bunch of c*nts every last one of them. Man United-lite they are and they love it. They love singing about tragedies that not only affected their city but probably affected their family and friends as well

Never hoped for them to go down because I'd miss the derby games and watching them struggle but fuck that, get them down. Vermin of a fucking club

Won't get over that southampton game if we miss top 4 by 3 points.

You can't just pick out one game though, except maybe the last game of the season, because if that game turned out differently, then the subsequent games would also turn out different.  Haven't you learned anything from Back To The Future?

To be fair, it is a bit of a dick move in all honesty. Coutinho scores a screamer and he tries to claim it for a touch literally impossible to see.

I remember watching the replay thinking "Nice to see Sturridge celebrating someone else's goal like that", only to realize later on he claimed it. I love him and he's a fantastic striker but he definitely is a bit of a self-centered character.

I would like to know how many times Mignolet touched the ball. I've seen "10" on Twitter (5 each half, with apparently 3 in the last 38 minutes), but that seems too high ;)

How dare I call Sturridge "a bit of a self-centered character", right.

I don't know, to me it's fairly obvious. He should have just let it go, not keep going on about it in the post-match interview like he did:

Honestly, if you actually watched the interview or his celebration with Coutinho, rather than reading out of context quotes, you'd see he was clearly taking the piss. He even bursts out laughing at the end in the interview.

The celebration where he starts off running the other way pointing at himself?

To me, yeah, he's laughing about it but most level headed people would let it go in my view. Or at least say out loud the day after that it was a joke and of course Phil should have the goal.

This is turning into a much bigger deal than I intended it to be. I really didn't think calling Sturridge a bit self-centered would cause such an outrage. To be completely honest, looking at how he acts in general I thought it was the consensus.

But then again, I don't think he'd be as good as he is if he wasn't the way he is. So I have no problem with it, really.

I love the guy. As I said in the post you're now trying to take out of context by putting words in my mouth.

You shouldn't use words like self-centered lightly then. That's not what he's being here at all. He's just being a bit of a goal glutton really. The guy loves scoring goals. We can see that if he ever doesn't score in a game, he looks really annoyed. It's part of what makes him a great striker.  He pretty much explained that With the 'I'd claim a goal off my eye-lash' part. Coutinho will get the goal and no one will be that bothered by it at the end of the day.

Danny seems like the kind of guy who wants to become a legend and leave a lasting legacy on the game. He wants to become an Henry, a Shearer, a Suarez. Someone who'll be looked back on and people will remember what a fantastic player he was. If he can get his injuries issues sorted, he has every chance of getting himself up there with those kind of names.

No outrage here, as I said I just completely disagree, to be honest everything I've seen of Sturridge suggests he's an awesome guy to be around. Even in his celebration he's clearly trying to get a rise out of Coutinho, nothing more.

With Sturridge it's like Rodgers having his portrait on his own wall. I was like 'Is our manager disgustingly self-confident? Good. Does that make him a knob maybe? Yeah. Who cares. Good'.

Is Sturridge a goal-obsessed numbers monster? Yes. Good. Does that make him a knob? Don't care. As long as he does his dance at least once a week. Carry on!'

::)

How dare I call Sturridge "a bit of a self-centered character", right.

I don't know, to me it's fairly obvious. He should have just let it go, not keep going on about it in the post-match interview like he did:

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-fc-striker-sturridge-makes-11218312

I don't like it to be honest.

Still goes on about it here:

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/daniel-sturridge-wants-100-liverpool-11223912

Strikes me as a self-centered character. Should have known that would have caused an outrage, though. This also puts it into a context I agree with:

http://www.empireofthekop.com/2016/04/22/sturridge-is-still-claiming-coutinhos-goal-says-hed-claim-goals-off-my-eyelash/

Hyperbole much?

I love the guy. As I said in the post you're now trying to take out of context by putting words in my mouth.

Check the videos of Origi's goal in Dortmund, not to mention Lovren's winner, of course. He always celebrates with the players, and often shows he's delighted. Yet the same stuff comes up time and time again.

Yesterday was a true demolition job. The only cloud in the sky is Origi's injury, what a shite tackle that was and what a cringey, embarrassing reaction from Funes Mori himself to beat the Everton club crest as if the fans would condone it. You just hurt a fellow professional, hurt your own team, will miss the biggest game of the season and have the audacity to pull something like this off?

It wasn't tackle. It was an assault with intent to injure. A tackle implies a ball would be involved. Mori was not near nor interested in the ball.

Apparently he's very popular in the dressing room. He's got a dry sense of humour and likes scoring goals.

Sturridge could claim 100 goals a season that aren't his as long as he hits 20 himself as far as I'm concerned. That would put us up to 120 and we'd win the league.
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence.

Oh good, you're all talking about Sturridge. Can I ask, when did he stop doing his little dance after he scores and does anyone know why he has stopped?

Just curious like...
"What's passive smoking? There's passive lots of things. Like passive listening to shitheads. I have to put up with that every day. Are you going to ban people from talking crap? They give me a headache. Believe me, they're killing me. One day people's conversations on the street will do me in." Terry Hall
