Very sad news.

Let's hope that he plays latter part of the season.

Absolutely devasted, fast becoming one of my favourite players, he is a class act on and off the pitch. He's been helping Brewster with his rehab, always upbeat and positive.
Lets hope for a full recovery, this guy has absolutely the right quality and attitude for us.

Really sad. We were travelling back from Kiev with a fella who met Tom Werner etc. after the final. He was basically told the Ox will not only miss the season, but they fear for his career. Obviously a long way to go but I hope the latter doesn’t come true.

What a pisser, this lad is an absolute treasure and we are lucky to have him at our club.

All the best Alex. We will just have to win the Champions league 2 years running so he can play the year after and get a medal.

Terrible news. For me he became one of our most key players last year - our drop in form after his injury whas marked.

Compared to last year we’re still stronger in the middle, but there’s no way he isn’t in a first choice XI so very disappointed.

Awful news! Gutted for him and us. He really took that position for himself with some brilliant performances. Always enjoyed his interviews after the match, seems like a top lad who is really humble and a top level professional.

Hope he has a speedy recovery and can get bacl to where he was as soon as possible. Cant wait to see him back!

Bloody hell, that is awful news. That must be so difficult for him to have to go through such a long recovery, physically and mentally. I wish him all the best for it and am really looking forward to see him in a Liverpool shirt again next year!

With Alisson due and Fekir possible it probably seems a good time to let people know.  On the flip side though, he'll need our full support; hard saying it but he might find himself with a real battle on his hands to get back into the first team.  :-\

Gutted. Was starting to worry with how under wraps the severity and recovery has been kept, even over the summer. Having Lallana fully fit is more important than ever now.

Gutted. Was fast becoming my favourite player, such a positive force in the squad. Don't know if you can really come back from an injury like this and still be the same player.

Amazed they knew about how long he would be out from the
offset then kept it quiet. Fair play to Alex he's showed great mental strength and when he seen naby the other day was still upbeat despite knowing what we know now.

Let's get him fully recovered and he will have a big part to play in the future of this club.

Just read the article on the guardian. Absolutely gutted for the lad. It's clearly a really serious injury. He was doing so well and fast becoming a real favourite for many of us.

Fingers crossed he gets over this. He strikes me as a fighter and I am sure he will.

Fuck. That's terrible news for us and him.

Couldn't have come at a worse time either. He was a big part of the reason we reached the final and slotted in seamlessly to an already world class attack. When you factor in how players need to ease back into matches we could be looking at January 2020 before he's back to his best. And with an injury like this, there's every chance he won't come back the same player anyway. Gutted.

Awful for the Ox... but, silver lining, at least the operation went well - and now he must focus on recovery. I like the fact everybody's taking this matter slowly and carefully instead of rushing it, it gives me hope Alex will return stronger than ever.

I know he has the strength of character to come through this so hope his body heals well.  Get him working with the kids as part of his rehab and let him impart some of that attitude and character into them.

Normally when players get long term injuries I hate to see it, but to be honest it doesn't bother me for long. This time though, I feel absolutely gutted for Ox I really do. I'm a huge fan of his and was delighted when we got him. To see him get better and better too was fantastic. Add in that he comes across as one of the most genuine and clued in people off the pitch and it's awful.
Good that Klopp explained the situation and hopefully he can take his time and come back and continue where he left off

James Pearce

The ECHO understands that he damaged his posterior cruciate ligament and his anterior cruciate ligament, as well as medial ligaments when he slid in to dispossess Roma's Aleksandar Kolarov. As a result he now faces a gruelling rehabilitation programme.

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-dealt-massive-alex-oxlade-14925294

I know it'd only be an educated guess but would be interesting to hear Welshred's thoughts on this latest news. How likely or unlikely is it that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be able to come back the same player, particularly as his explosiveness was a big part of his game?
