Without wishing to sound negative I’d take any win, even by a single goal.
Away goals aren’t used as a tie breaker anymore, and I’d be very confident of not getting beat down at Craven Cottage.

Chalk it down man. absolutely.
Unlike everyone else so far in the thread I would not start Jota tonight. Personally I'd keep him on the bench as he's been having a huge impact coming on fresh as the game wears on (same with Ryan).
I'd start Bradley and I'd start Gomez which gives you the option of playing Quansah with VVD.
Elliott, Macca and Jones in the middle. Nuńez on the left, Cody in the middle and Diaz on the right.

Should be enough to get a win. I'd be happy with that myself.

Agree though possibly Grav for Jones who has been a bit injury prone.

I’d start Elliott, with no Salah or Trent we need someone creative out there who will look to drive us up the pitch

Domestically? Some wise old manager masterminded them to a Europa League final in more recent times.

Didn't they smack Juventus 4-1 at Craven Cottage on the way and narrowly lose to Atletico in the final?

Can you imagine how insufferable Roy Hodgson would have been if he won the Europa Cup / Uefa Cup? He'd be dining on that result for decades (probably rightfully so).

Fair enough if he'd have won that with Fulham. They played a few Champions League quality teams along the way. We actually should have won that competition to be honest though it probably wouldn't have saved Rafa's job. Could have dined on another European trophy for the following years afterwards too. Another reason I really want to win it this year considering a couple of near misses in it since we last won it.

In midfield though, correct? I really don't want to see him in the Salah position. He's so much better playing deeper.

Any result which means Fulham have to push for goals at Craven Cottage is a good result, with Luis, Darwin and Diogo breaking on them.

On our way to see the tricky reds (hopefully) take the first step towards a West London double and add another trophy to the champions wall.

Every cup has been won in my lifetime. That makes me feel old but I'm not going anywhere until we have double figures for all trophies!. That might not take too long with Jurgen at the helm.

Gonna be agony when any of ours are tackled or go down tonight. Our amazing squad is keeping us going but could really do without another injury now.

yep im definitely officially worried now, after the cost of trent for the FA cup run. i'd definitely sit Gomez for this now (or sub him off), just as a last gasp risk mitigation before the break

Atleti tie very unfortunate. For one thing we had to travel there by road/rail as there was no flights that week. That didn't help us get a positive result in the first leg. Then we lost to an away goal in extra time where away goals counted double despite them getting the extra half hour.

Fulham did well to reach the final but no more impressive than McClaren achieving the same with Middlesbrough not long before or Walter Smith with Rangers (they all lost the final).

Let's hope Kelleher is better than he was in the league game!

Trust in Klopp:

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Sheffield United, the manager said: "I really think he played a really good game [against Fulham].

"In possession he was good, especially with his feet, but then we conceded two goals [in the first half].

"One, the Harry Wilson goal, is an unlucky one as a goalie. If the ball goes through the legs, it goes through the legs and that happens. The second one, our goalie coaches and Ali [Alisson] especially explained to me: we are front-footed goalkeepers, they told me.

"I know that and in this moment Caoimhin steps into the situation. If Tete tries to control the ball, Caoimhin is there, but he doesn't. He takes the first touch and then the ball passes him a little bit."

Rather than dwell too much on possible mistakes, Klopp gave Kelleher the advice to 'keep going' – with the Ireland international set to continue his run in the team while Alisson remains out.

He added: "These kind of things happen, it has nothing to do with quality - it’s a philosophy thing. He could have saved that ball as well with exactly the same movement, just a little bit more luck. [So] just keep going, do the same things."
Anyone can have a good day, but you have to be able to perform on a bad day.

A trip down memory lane for those of us old enough to remember.

The attendance is a little surprising !

I know, 13000 surprised me. I remember attendances for League Cup games being low in the early 80s ( apart from when Pompey brought 10,000 midweek), but we had no Europe and think we had done away with that Cup we had won against Norwich.

Can't see us getting a result tonight that makes you feel like we've got one foot in Wembley, which is what you're really after when playing home first. Any win to take to the Cottage would be good though.

That's the spirit Bennett, I can see why the current league leaders who are unbeaten at home in around 7 years would make you nervous of getting a result.

Do we even have enough players left to field a team?

Got to like Chelsea going almost full strength and losing anyway  ;D hopefully we can grab a couple and keep a clean sheet with a young team. Just to show them how its done, like.
