Cause they have long history of signing English players.  ::)

Leaving the piss takers aside, he's a good player and a very good talent. Skill and comfort on the ball is a premium quality that simply hasn't been prioritised enough at the academy until recently and Ejaria has both in spades. Of course, that alone is never enough, but this guy does have the size and a reasonable bit of speed along with it. He does need to be put on the Origi diet as Dan mentioned and all that physicality will help him become more comfortable in holding onto the ball under pressure and playing out of pressure. He does have a lot of talent but I think he has a lot of developing to do before he may be spoken of in first team terms.

Most encouraging thing about him from what I've seen is he appears to have good intelligence. That, along with his very decent looking physical and technical potential is what will give him the best chance of success at the top level

Kid so reminded me of Paul Pogba. Hopefully see a lot more of him going forward..

Think you're overestimating Pogba a bit there.

Likewise, not heard of him once. Where's he come from?

Easy to get carried away, but for such a young lad, he's so happy to be on the ball. Seems well built, quick enough, good feet, smart passer. Not much you cannot get excited about. Looking forward to seeing his next appearance.
It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

Similar, I'd seen him play a few times but when I heard Ejaria was playing I thought it was a head scratcher. But after that game I can understand it, looks to me like he has the skill set and mentality on the pitch to really progress his game to a high level and if he can add a bit more power he could be a ripping player I think. Looked like a good sized lad who if he fills out will be a handful.

Most impressive thing for me was his awareness

Whenever he had a man pressing him he seemed to know about it and rarely turned into trouble by playing the early first time pass then moving into space, likewise when he did have space he knew and took the opportunity to turn early and look up to assess his options going forward

Haven't really seen this lad play before, but like the rest of you I was impressed. Great technique, awereness, physical presence...Looks like he lacks a bit of pace maybe, not that he is directly slow. Will be interesting to see how he develops :)
If he was Dudek would've saved it...and there would be no film.

Me too. Looks like he has a good footballing brain on him as well. Early days yet but a very promising performance from young Ejaria.

Found that impressive too but i think i can always see more potential in a young player due to a display of game intellegence throughout a match. Being able to turn defence into attack with a driving run is great and can have a huge effect on a game and a combination of both is even better

This is the first time i've seen Ejaria play so i hope he can build on this, he will have done his future chances no harm and i think a player like Ejaria (based entirely on what he showed last night) is exactly what we need alongside Can at CM. If we can get an experienced player with those kind of attributes this summer it would be fantastic

Defo one for the future.

I mentioned him in the youth thread last week,I was as surprised as anyone seeing him get the nod last night.
Games vs non-league opposition is ideal to make a debut.
One of those players who always seems to have time on the ball, that in itself is something, whether that's the ability of making space or that combined with the oppositions respect, time will tell.
Excited about his future,I made the long-shot comparison of Kanu, not the Welsh one!
Get the lad on a decent long term deal.
Support the team,Trust & Believe.

Watching that the first player that came to mind as a comparable was Gianneli Imbula. Tall, strong, shifty, good ball control, gets forward, and quite gangly. I don't want to criticise to much, but there were many times in this all-touches video where he was a bit sloppy and almost lost the ball, and against better players than Tranmere he would more often than not have lost the ball in those situations; again, I don't want to be harsh and this is probably nit-picking, but to make it at this level he'll need to be more focussed on the ball.

You can tell our youth coaches are doing a good job of preparing the kids for Klopp's style based on how often Ejaria looks for 1-2's through the midfield at pace.

Bloody Nora! Not bad eh? His technique is exquisite - really commands space and owns the ball. Looks like a Vieira / Toure hybrid.

Definitely one to keep an eye has all the tools to go as far in the game as his desire and application allows.

Funny you should say that. When I saw him he reminded me of the type of youngster Arsene played in the early rounds of the League Cup. Hopefully he will go on and have a succesful career unlike the Arsenal lads who disappeared without trace.

So the Echo player rating was:

Ejaria 8

It's the first game of pre-season, but it's no exaggeration to call him the greatest player of all-time. In all seriousness, the star of the half, and showed some real promise on the ball.

So over to you, can you be more OTT in your praise?. For me Firmino did a better impression of a sumo wrestler, and most players looked a bit out of sorts. Exactly as you would expect for more than half of who was in the bunch and for the first friendly of the year. Balotelli was my man of the match, playing for exactly the amount of minutes I hoped he would, and continues to for the rest of the season.
