He seems like did very well as a League One manager and now with preston. Wonder if he on the radar at all to be a coach at Liverpool(I doubt Manager untill Klopp is staying longer)
No one's going to give up a managerial job at a high level to be a coach, maybe if he was in the National League but he's pushing for the play offs in the Championship and could even get to the PL next season.

I was just saying in a couple of years but I agree overall. If he can get Preston to the PL sending Sepp Back there is perfect imo

I definitely think he has some form of future here. Not sure if it'll be a handful of games or hundreds of them, but I don't think he'll be loaned next season unless a very good offer comes in, guaranteeing first team football in a good league. In the immediate future he could be a good squad option, where he'll hopefully impress and one day be in line for 'first team' football.

Loan him again to a PL team next season. Then the season after see where we're at. Matip might have dropped off a little, Gomez may be wanting to move on.

From that same thread:

Sepp Van Den Berg is the best loan player we have ever had in my 30 years watching us IMO. He has been absolutely outstanding. His attitude to being on loan in terms of how he doesn't see it as short term but very much part of the team is a brilliant example to any young talent going out on loan. I'll be gutted when we lose him.

How cool is that?

Good lad, Sepp...

I wonder if Joe Gomez will want to move on, being in contention for an England spot and wanted to play regularly etc. Wonder if VDB could be our 4th choice CB and provide a bit of cover for Trent at the same time?

If Gomez was to leave we'd need to find a homegrown replacement.

He mostly plays on the right of a three….

Would be interesting to se him play in a back 4 next

Rave reviews for the lad from the PNE fans but then again they told us Ben Davies was the second coming...

Great to see him performing well and more importantly getting stuck in and making the most of his time there. We all know he'll still need to jump up many levels to get near our team but looks like a very positive loan and if nothing else adds a few million quid to his sell-on value.

So what's the plan with Sepp? Great season with Preston last year before getting a loan to the Bundesliga. Looks like he started 4 games in a row for Schalke before a bad ankle ligament injury in October and hasn't played since. Is he doing his rehab with us or with Schalke? Looks as though this season will be a write off for him which is a real shame for the lad. Guessing he'll do pre-season with us before again going out on loan.

Well, I've read that he is back in team training. He was also called up for Holland's U-21 games in a few weeks. The kid is talented, so lets see how he will do over the next 2-3 months in the Bundesliga ...

Hope he gets a chance with the first team next season, just to see how he does in the Prem.  Might not need a new centre back signing.

I dunno, reckon he may go on loan again, he missed most of the season this year, might be a bit of a stretch that he makes the jump to PL level, and having him sat around on the bench here wouldn’t be great for him after missing a lot of football. Schalke fans would love him back that much  I know! But they need to survive the drop though first and stay in Bundesliga.

But also, who knows what the plan will be eh!

I wonder what he's like at covering right back (as a right sided C/H)? :)

Might be quite good! I think he was playing as the right sided centre back of a 3 at Preston? May have got used to covering some ground there!

He's had rotten luck with injury this season but good to see him start the last two games. He played as a right wing back and a RCB in a 3 for Preston so I wonder if he might he might be an option as cover for Konate as the the RCB who covers Trent when he pushes into midfield.

Weekend trip to Munich to watch Bayern demolish Schalke. Atmosphere amazing, Kimmich/Musiala so good.
A quiet cameo from #LFC target Gravenberch. Mane only played last 5mins but still set up a goal with a glorious touch. Margin of victory would have greater but for Van den Berg.

Could have a future here with this new system.

Seemed to be well liked at Preston when he went on loan there and the positions he has seemed to cover while on loan would help him in that RCB position the way it is now. Glad he’s liked at Schalke too so perhaps another season there given his lack of game time this year due to injury and he’d be ready?

Much more excited by the idea of a youngster on the books coming in and solving a spot in the squad. But is he good enough to displace Gomez as the Konate back up (assuming Matip is sold as per some suggestions)?

Rafa Benitez: "I’ll always keep in my heart the good times I’ve had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager."

He was never lightning quick but I don't think he was ever slow either.  Just average paced and like most chunky boys he's quicker the more distance he covers in a straight line.

I seem to remember him being reasonably quick. Not Gomez or Konate quick, but quick enough that he could make some recovery challenges. He played at right wing back for a big chunk of last season with Preston. I think there was some criticism that despite his height he wasn't particularly good in the air.

to convert it MPH if that helps is 21.033 MPH
That is fast overall.
Virgil at some point had 34.5 KPM and im pretty sure he had the fastest speed of any player in the 18-19 CL  at the end of game in the 2nd leg vs Barca
Basically that elite top end speed from Van den Berg.
Konate this season recorded 36.2 KM/H at one point
Salah recorded 36.6 KPH before and pretty sure Nunez has got a higher top speed then that at some point too
This site has some data from the CL it seems.
https://speedsdb.com/soccer/liverpool-players-top-speeds
He has enough pace to play for Liverpool basically.
