Man of the match tonight.

I know we've had huge issues at centre back but I'd of played the ball boys there looking at that midfield display from Fabinho tonight

Really does go to show just how much our injuries at CB have fucked our League season. This man is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world bar fucking none.

First game in midfield since the Cursed Derby, and he transformed the entire side by virtue of being restored to his proper position. What an incredible player.

When he turned his man in midfield on like the 89th minute and strode past him I just let out a little sigh of contentment. Controlled everything, broke up everything, an absolute pillar in the centre.

Those two were really good together, I really think we will see a different Thiago now.

I've always found this to be the most important position on the pitch for us. We lacked a midfield general in the 90s. 2000's we had Hamann and we felt his absence when he wasn't playing. Then it was Mascherano. Then Lucas, then Fabinho (or Henderson).

The drop off we've had this season is reminiscent of what happened when Lucas did his knee in 11/12. The midfield went to shit and the whole balance of the team went. It wouldn't have happened if we could have kept Fabinho in there (or Henderson at least). And Fabinho is a better player than Lucas.

They key stone, the bedrock, the fulcrum, the foundation - call it what you will, he was all of that tonight. Gave the mid-field the confidence to play and the defence the time to be composed.

He in unreal. Him in the middle and I'd fancy us against anyone again. 17 mins in, tackle that sums up exactly what he offers. The commentators on BT kept saying Leipzig were slow and no urgency. but for me that's exactly what Fabinho does. Every time they went to go forward he blocked the route with clever movement or a tackle. World class.
No co-incidence that Thiago looked better, Mane looked better, Kabak looked better

Absolutely.

There is a calming industrious influence from him, that belies an exquisite and composed passing ability.
