Loved him from day one. Don't remember us having a player more underrated than him in a long while. Glad that Klopp is not benching him as long as he's playing this well.

He is one hell of a fourth choice CB! Immense tonight. A lot of people have criticised his passivity in the past but he seems to be more aggressive and confident with his defending in the last couple of games. I suppose playing beside VVD does that to a man

He has this zippy pass. Always puts crazy pace on it which means its unlikely to be intercepted, and does find his man more often than not. Problem is, sometimes it maybe too much for the receiving man, but they are getting better at it too. Another dimension to playing from the back.

I think he plays the most through balls in our side. Legit. What the fuck?! They’re all spot on balls too, almost got through an absolute worldy through to Milner, but Sadio took it instead.

Gomez is top class, but we havent missed him yet. I was worried we would, but, he’s been brilliant so far. Bigger test coming up on the weekend though.

I think that plus his willingness to attack space in front of him could be very useful indeed at the weekend. Obvious they're going to park the bus as much as possible. Matip is a player who can help shift a parked bus, and I think we'll need as many of them in the team as possible.
