Why do people insist on adding Jones to the midfield?
because he's a great footballer.

A note...

Some stream sites are now being blocked by ISPs - not all, but some - so you may need a VPN to bypass that block. Free and easy-to-use VPNs from the Chrome Web Store like... WindScribe, Best VPN by uVPN, 1VPN, and Troywell VPN... usually work fine - and there are many others to choose from. Use an adblocker too - uBlock Origin is quality for this.

Also, some antivirus software are also blocking certain streaming sites of late - not because there is anything untoward on those streaming sites, but they seem to be blocking the way adverts are delivered on the sites. It is completely up to you fine folks... but a temporary disable of your antivirus software when clicking onto a streaming site - then quickly enabling the antivirus security - after the stream appears, often does the trick...

Finally... don't leave it until our match is about to kick off to watch a stream - test one of the other footy matches available shortly before our kick off. See if those other streams work okay - and what you may need to do to get the stream working for our match. A little practice and all that... Good luck with it. There are more stream sites to try below. :wave

General Football and Sport / Re: The Snooker thread

If you’re Ronnie O’Sullivan, lauded as the greatest player of all time, and consistently talked of as one of the most talented sportspeople pound for pound that there is, you’re probably going to be a little underwhelmed that your 30year career winnings is about the same as Thiagos takings for being injured for a year. I’m not sure it’s even purely the money that’s the factor for him he’s always appeared pretty frugal for what he is. He seems to want to just be pampered and have first class amenities that other sports figures do, which they offer in Asia. Let’s face it, Snooker in Britain is still amateur hour and Hearn and co see him as a necessary annoyance. That’s probably why things like the door being open and people bumbling around get to him so much.

I’m not necessarily agreeing with any of this. The Fawlty Towers aspect of snooker is why me and my wife still watch it. It is ridiculous sometimes but beautifully charming. I can understand why he would want out and to be treated like a god though. That’s what all genius’s want.

Can’t disagree with any of this. Feel like I’ve done a 180 on this one 😂

The prize money for the world championships is nowhere near good enough, that’s for sure. Surely they can find a way to raise it without having to go to Saudi though … is the sport really that small?

I suppose it’s proven to be too small as it lives on Eurosport on a cheap subscription and the worlds are broadcast on bbc. If it was capable of premium media revenue it would be on sky or some other high subscription cost service.

Wasn't this the final were we sang Supermac , Superstar  how many goals have you scored so far ? He was apparantly mouthing off in the papers on the Friday.

McDonald getting silenced is one of the first LFC stories I remember my old man telling me :)

Until next season - cannot see any of the 3 promoted sides staying up.

Gap is too big now. Forest only stayed up by spending over 100 million and clubs can't do that now coming up.

As Klopp doesn't have to think about the previous or next game it will be an interesting to see how he lines up in midfield as fatigue doesn't come into it. Sounds like van Djik will probably make it. That would mean only Matip, Thiago, Jota, and Doak are out. I'd like to see the below.

                           Alisson

Trent          Konate          van Djik          Robertson

      Jones          Mac Allister          Gravenberch

           Salah          Nunez          Diaz

Subs: Kelleher, Tsimikas, Gomez, Quansah, Endo, Bajcetic, Szoboszlai, Elliott, Gakpo

Why do people insist on adding Jones to the midfield?

Grievances about FSG, Sporting Directors and Klopp going back to 2021 are probably a reasonable conversation.

Since about 2022, there’s been lots of money available and Klopp’s been running the show. Putting faith in existing midfielders in2022/23, the perceived muddled strategy of last summer, lack of a 6 all have some merit as discussion points.

But the transfer strategy and mechanics looked massively different pre-2022 versus the last few seasons. From a collaborative approach with a SD at tge centre of this, we moved more to the position where Klopp was the kingpin in recruitment and sales. I’m almost certain we still had analytics input but Klopp’s role was a lot more pronounced.

I’d say that not to pin blame on anyone. I just don’t think conflating things that happened in 2017 to approx 2021/22 are the same as what’s happened the last few seasons. Klopp has seemingly had a lot more control in recruitment and recruitment strategy in recent seasons.

Its quite clear that the summer of 22, winter and summer 23 are generally Klopp led decisions.

I love Jurgen but Ill be honest and say, even with our success this season, i am not a fan of the signings as a whole. I know the stats show otherwise but I am still not sold with our attack and the midfield still needs a body in there.

At the same time, whilst the nerds had success, i dont want to go back to a system where we set an impossible bar for new signings and therefore hardly sign anyone. I personally think after 2020 we became uber cautious and thats when Edwards was at the club. That could have been Jurgen and Covid, but we will soon find out.

fact is, her knowing would do nobody any good at all.

especially if she's anything like my wife.  I swear, if worrying about hypotheticals was an Olympic event ...

Yeah she flaps like mad

Had to explain this to my lad over breakfast. He said well say I do fly typhoons and get a flame out she's needs to know I can cope. I'm like, no mate, yer ma needs to think you take off, fly about a bit, land and cruise back to the hangar before going for a cup of tea. She needs to know nothing else.
