Then we should also forget Mourinho and Conte.

I just can’t get excited by the likes of Howe, Frank and O’Neill.

Unfortunately these are the names that could be referred to as unpopular.

Yes we should. I don't think anyone would argue against that

How much are Klopp and Guardiola on?

Think Jurgen is on around 13m a year. Pep's official wages will be similar i'd imagine then the rest would be hidden obviously.

I would take Mourinho over them 3 any day of the week.

It would be a train crash of biblical proportions, but it would be somewhat entertaining, as opposed to the absolute depression those 3 would conjure up.

I remember someone saying Tuchel is not as bad as you seem, and then backing up his point by posting a yt vid of Tuchel at a meditation workshop 😂

Ah well he’s been touched by Buddha … he must be alright

Remember when we were struggling last season and some fans wanted rid of Klopp because according to them good managers are ten a penny?

Same as defensive mids. Doesn't seem they exist anymore

I wouldn't even consider Mourinho or Conte.

I wouldn't as such but if the options are Mourinho/Conte on one side and Frank/O'Neill and managers of the ilk on the other then I'm going with the proven winners even in the short-term until we find someone we want properly.

O'Neill would crash and burn for all I think he's got great potential and is working his way up. I can't have Frank. De Zerbi very risky.

Perhaps that’s why it would have been prudent to give it to Pep for a year, as there really isn’t an outstanding candidate.

Amorim is asking for ridiculous money.

Inzaghi won’t come as he has just won the league.
There may be be more options in 1 year.

No way Pep accepts such an arrangement.

The interim route is generally pretty grim.

Absolutely depressing. Going from Klopp to possibly some of the speculated managers mentioned is outrageous. Initial talks of Alonso and Amorim, now talks of O'Neil.

Why are you depressed? Don't pay any attention to those "who know".....cos they don't know. It's all speculation and clicks. They will pretend for a couple of days that it's Omiron and then they'll switch to Slot and then to somebody else then to Peter Crouch or whoever. It's all "breaking news" and none of it is factual. Just ignore most of it and wait for the white smoke.

You know what's even funnier, Diego Simeone is on 28m a year, officially the worlds highest paid manager. Right we all know Pep is on more when the hidden stuff is included but still Simeone on around double Jurgen's wages is incredible.

Don’t take it too seriously man. This is just pub talk and people are having a bit of fun speculating.

I come in here every day to hear people panicking about shite written in the media and making suggestions that are, frankly, laughable.

Just relax, the club are on this, it's a club that does not give clues (even before the recent backroom shakeup) so the only stuff that is circulating is other idiots speculation and clickbait.

So basically a journalist, Tuchel denies this.

I guess it’s who you want to believe isn’t it, Tuchel or the CEO Aki Watzke. Seems most understandably believed Watzke.

The guy is a dick, he as a dick in the way he left Mainz, and he was a dick at Dortmund.

But yes, good coach, no doubt, but not someone you’d want to plan building a team with!

Give Amorim what he wants. I'd rather a boss manager on top money than a shit manager on reasonable money. In either scenario, we're going to pay the price. At least with the top manager you'll get your money back with prize money and going deep into the CL.

I really can't see us getting an interim Manager - it just feels I don't know, very un-Liverpool. Besides what decent Manager is going to want to come for a year

I hope not but I also would rather we didn't just go down our list and see who is available. We should have 1 to 2 managers who we would like and focus on them. If our top choices are not available then don't appoint the 5th choice just because nobody else can agree terms. I really hope that we are close to announcing our top choice rather than desperately chasing rainbows.

The tweet that was posted here about 10 pages back said 10 million. Dunno why it's now double.

In any case, if the sticking point of the negotiations is the manager's pay, I'd be reasonably optimistic it is getting done.

It's so utterly bleak but if it's not Alonso or Amorim the cupboard does feel a bit bare in terms of good options doesn't it. At least we might be able to enjoy the total car crash of Mourinho on some level. Gary O'Neil or Beheadie Howe is just depressing beyond belief, there are no redeeming features of giving the likes of them a go.
3 midfielders minimum in the next window. And probably another young CB to boot.

Anything else is negligent.

It is apparently £15 mill a year gross.

So Amorim still reportedly wants more than that

Buying Amorim out of his contract you'd think will cost 10m because that is how much Sporting had to pay to get him in.

Mo gets more than that and the manager is (or should be) more important than any player.

That hasn't been true for most managers for many many years now. Players hold power and only very special managers, like Jurgen, are more important than the players. There's no way you can say that about Amorim right now. Stick him on the £200 post tax that he wants then get stuck with him for the whole term of his contract if he doesn't turn out to be very good for us. He hasn't earned that yet and his reputation so far doesn't back that up. Its crazy.

If he wants that kind of salary it needs to be an incentivised one. Anything more than 10-15 mill is based on performance. We'd already be paying 8 figures to Sporting in compensation.

Klopp was paid the big bucks based on what he'd already achieved and his money went up over new deals. If Amorim (or anyone else) come in and do well, then they'd get a salary bump down the line.
