He has a bit of a 'poor mans' Suarez about him. And I say that as a compliment.

Can definitely see that. Suarez too had bit of an inconsistent first touch, it would wander between sublime and awful at times. From what I have seen of Ings at Burnley and in pre-season. Same seems to be true of him.

Fucking backed him from the start - the lad has skill. So what if it is an Australian team - that was a good goal - just the type we need.

Well in lad.

Good run and a well taken goal. He is sharp and will latch into the short through ball. Attitude is good too.

He'll do alright for us I reckon.

Let him be himself though. Swerve the Suarez comparisons with anyone we sign, it's not fair on anyone.

Reckon he'll end up around double figures for us this season.

He'll probably be ahead of Origi in the rotation when the season starts, considering his experience in the league and the benefit of two extra years of development. I think Origi undoubtedly has the higher ceiling but as a third/fourth option (or even a fifth option, depending on how we employ Firmino), he'll do. In two years down the line we'll probably look at his development and know whether he's proven himself good enough and if he's ready to move up the ladder, happy to remain in his current position, or should move on for more games elsewhere (and hopefully turn a profit in an inflated market).

Love the lads work ethic, someone likened him to Bellamy and that's spot on, there was a moment when he was brought on in the second half and he chased one of their players deep into our half

I think our lot will love him, he will get game time definitely but will be a cracking sub too

Also loved the run and calmness to slot the ball in

Positives only for me

Haha so the main thing that likens him to Suarez is an inconsistent first touch (yeah yeah which can be sublime at times)? :D

What a compliment that is!

I was very impressed by Ings last night. Never mind the opposition or that it's preseason. His movement was exactly what you'd expect in that sort of attack leading up to his goal. He did the simple stuff right and it paid off. Origi struck me as trying to take on too much. Struck me as relying on pace and physicality which of course can be very effective too. It just didn't really work for him last night.

Way to early to judge Ings but looking at the goals he has scored before and how he took his goal last night, I'd say he instinctively has good timing and awareness. The fundamental basics needed to be a good striker.

Two very promising young strikers in Origi and Ings and of course Yesil trying to make his case heard too. I can't remember a time when we had this many decent strikers scrapping for a spot on the team.

wouldnt be surprised to see him end up our main striker especially if/when we revert to 3-4-3.

think he is a perfect fit for that system as the main striker compared to any other we have right now.

I watched him a lot at Burnley over the last 2 seasons (Mrs is a claret), and his pressing of the defenders always stood out to me. He never gives up and will continue to chase down defenders, eventually it pays off and they hoof it or lose the ball. He did it vs us on boxing day and forced us to keep going long rather than play out from the back. We initially got the ball back the other day due to his pressing the defender, for the Lallana goal.

If you had listened to the lunatic asylum that is the TWAT board, he doesn't press, is dead slow and has bad positioning. All 3 proved to be untrue within 2 games.

I'm really excited by our new signings this summer!! I didn't say that last year  ;)

Ings is sharp, saw a lot of him in the Championship.  He's a natural goalscorer and should progress nicely here.

Like what I've seen so far. He has a bit strength and guile about him, and doesn't seem like he will make the same mistakes many times over. I reckon he'll give Benteke and Sturridge stiff competition for the #1 striker spot this season. You just know, from the intensity with which he plays the game, that he will not give them a moment's rest on the training ground. In that respect, he might become a great purchase. Neither Sturridge nor Benteke can afford to be out of goal-scoring form for long.

Glowing praise from Lovren...

"The signs are promising at the minute and we have made great signings.

James (Milner) has been brilliant, Divock (Origi) has been amazing and Danny (Ings) is quite quick."

I am an Australian and I was lucky enough to go from Sydney to Adelaide to watch the game. It was a great experience. I was impressed with Danny Ings

I was very happy when Ings got on. I know these games mean nothing, and they are against weak opposition but for my first look at Origi it was a bit frustrating because he did not seem to attack the ball. There were a couple of instances where some nice crosses came in and he was not putting his body on the line or seem eager (again I know these are friendlies and it could just have been a one off).

When Ings came on he had that purpose and impetus to score as opposed to Origi and that translated into his goal. On the night he seemed much more hungry and eager. I hope he does really well for us this season.

He's young, works hard, pretty quick and scored more goals last season than any of our strikers. He got one more than Van Persie and one less than the white Pele. That's two less than Benteke. Burnley scored the princely amount of 28 goals. That's two more than Aguero.

Bit of a stat attack there, but seeing as we're paying next to fuck all for him, isn't he worth a punt?. Plus he just happens to be one of the most likeable footballers around off the pitch. Actually this is the least risky transfer we've made. I'd love to see him make it here.
