Looks like there's no roof on North Bank by this stage.

Finally acknowledged this bit of your post. Actually, there was a roof on the North Bank - that went on in 1936. The view in that shot is quiet similar to the one your lot would have gotten (although I'm not sure where away fans sat back in the 50s) - from the Clock End.

Thats where I'll put the pen.

Great thread this.
We may sign Salah, but I'll show my arse in the middle of town if we sign one of VVD or Keita. Not gonna happen.

Was that Eusebio one taken at Wembley? Was it a European Cup Final because it's obviously a Benfica kit?

definitely wembley!

Quick google search reveals it's the 1963 European Cup Final. Possible that the picture's showing Eusebio scoring the opener as well.

yep, it's Benfica kit for sure, really nice imo. They still sell the vintage kit nowadays.

Here's a nice way to spend four minutes a Dragan Stojkovic back heel compilation with suitable eurodance accompaniment.

Tricolore's still the best football I've ever owned... Played daily with it for the best part of four/five years and I've still got it in the attic. Fantastic thing!

Plus, I just realized that the ball I got for my 7th birthday (and lost playing 25 v 25 about three weeks later) was actually the questra. Never seen a picture of it since.

How boss is that '74 ball. Great memories there.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

AC generally came out on top at club level, the Germans generally came out on top at international level during that period.

Milan invincibles:

There last game of that season they won 8-2.

I watched that game live. First time I'd ever seen that great Milan side. They where 2-1 down at half time against Foggia I think? Not sure but, I think a very young Bepe Signori got both Foggia's goals as well.
