They are also usually older than twelve...

Is he styling his haircut off one of their players? I don’t know their player names, but I swear I saw his haircut on this weirdo.
Anyone else being strangely drawn to Dion Dublin's nipples?

Eddie Howe is a gobshite, but that Tindall is something else. He's got the most punchable face I've ever seen and his self-importance is off the fucking charts.

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw who they had next, it would be another win for football in this depressing war on sportswashing barbaric regimes.

Things could go very poorly if they lose that one, and then get off to a bad start in Europe, support starts to question whether they are actually the quality that they thought, doesn't take lot of for the players to start to question themselves.

carragher and neville kept saying they were favourites today and on the up.

Must have been the agreed talking point today. Owen was saying the same on the American feed. Something about if you look at this year then Newcastle are really a force and Liverpool are fading...

‘Only’ 7 saves as well. Some of the keeper from the shit sides make that many most games I reckon.

Yey, won 2-1 at home last season Mo with a 98th minute winner, that after all the timewasting they were doing from when they went 1-0 up, the away match, we were 2-0 up in 20 minutes then they had their keeper sent off. ;D

It's 5/5 since the takeover.

Also beat them 1-0 away in 20/21 when Keita scored and Newcastle barely touched the ball, and 3-1 in the home fixture. Both were after the takeover and the away game was late in the season when they had turned their form around.

Probable when Joelinton was running around kicking people after being warned by the ref.
Also did Joelinton really wave an imaginary card at the ref when VVD was sent off ?

guardian football coverage is absolutely painful to read.

it always comes off like they're bitter some northerners have forced them to take their slip on loafers off, turn off the rugger union and write about 'footie' (something they only talk about in person with labourers, after exhausting mentioning the weather)

I hate Eddie Howe and his Third Reich officer's face.

I hear you, but I see the cherubic Howe in a Hitler youth uniform. Perhaps singing 'Tomorrow Belongs To Me' in a Berlin biergarten.

And keeping the Teutonic theme going, his mate Tindall is a ringer for a German porn star from the 70s & 80s. Or so I'm reliably told.

I remember Jake Humphries, in the middle of a game, suddenly getting all excited by the cricket, only to resume with his bored look as soon as the conversation returned to football. That's what the Guardian coverage feels like, 'professionals' doing a job, pretending neutrality but actually favouring whatever bias has entered their head this week. They never feel invested in the game, but don't feel impartial either, so it all comes off as sneering disinterest with a slightly preachy tone.

Agreed. Plus Bottman went off injured after screaming from the pain (I don't know what happened, seemed a coming together with Gomez off camera) - if he's out for a significant spell, they could struggle to keep things tight at the back in their usual conservative manner

They might struggle this season… they’ve added numbers to cope with the champions league, but their back line isn’t going to cope with mobile forwards in Europe…

Hope they are bottom of the group as could not bear the thought of meeting them in later rounds of Europe if they dropped down, just because of this false pathetic rivalry that yet again a club has conjured up.

if they do, i hope they let howe decide, so he can pick up some random english choice, rather than go for someone sensible. if he's out a while they could go into european games with a lanky left back at centre back and their new chelsea left back going straight in despite no pre season. or lascelles

There has got to be a mentality question for these as well. Bottled the League Cup vs an awful utd team, forms been patchy for end of last season and start of this. Also I don’t think Howe is the type of manager to re-create a team once its been worked out, newcastle are very vulnerable on balls in behind and running at there own goal. Can only see that exposed even more in Europe

Yep true.

Should have added fake twats as well when they are at Anfield with the usual clap trap during the game and a pretense before.  At least the mancs and others are honest about it.

To be fair, they were narrow favourites with the bookies going into the game, so I don't really mind this comment so much. I had much more of an issue with the same manc bellend crying after the game yesterday that they're still better than us. After losing a game at home with a lead and playing against ten men.

There's a pretty weird and distasteful desperation amongst the English media to big Newcastle up, even after they've absolutely shat the bed and made fools of themselves.
