On probably the best day in Welsh football in a generation I think there should be a special mention for the man that laid the foundations that have led Wales to where they are today

And on World Mental Health Awareness Day as well
Very well put.

Testament to Chris Coleman as well, who's carried on the work Garry Speed was doing. Coleman was Garry Speed's friend, which made it tough for Coleman to take the Wales job on.

10 years since Gary Speed's death. A lot of really sad, really good content on it. I didn't see this at the time from Bryn Law, but just watched it now and cried my eyes out. Heartbreaking.

Hard to believe, isn't it?

We were playing that day, as I remember it? I was in town when I noticed the rumours start to come through. I went into Pret, got a cup of coffee, and just sat there, numb. Must have been in there an hour or more trying to process it. No-one should ever have to go through what his family and friends went through. There's always another way.

RIP. Always seemed to be a great guy.

There's still so many unanswered questions but people should try to remember Gary as the cracking bloke and footballer he was. That clip of Bryn Law is truly devastating, it's taken my breath a bit.

Thinking of all the family and friends of Gary today.

I think the current successes of the Wales national team can be traced back to the work Gary Speed put into setting up that culture

Treating the national anthem like the rugby players do. Making the players learn to sing it in Welsh.

I hope if I ever saw myself as low as he found himself that I would be able to reach out to someone (or anyone). But I can't begin to think about the mindset of his situation.

Rhi has posted some incredible links but I wanted to share one that is more Liverpool centric

https://www.jamesplace.org.uk/our-services/our-centres/

James place is a suicide crisis center for men in the Liverpool area to self refer and have someone to talk to and get support.

Yep, it’s hard to fathom that it’s 10 years. That’s a lovely tribute with an important message for those struggling with mental health yet ‘putting on a brave face’.

I spent the last 17 years of my career teaching at a school which Gary attended, alongside staff who remembered him.

It’s an awful disease that takes over the lives of far too many people. I’m sitting here with my 16 month old grand-daughter who doesn’t have a mother due to this complex disease. How I wish we could do more to prevent it but once it gets its ugly claws in then it’s so hard to shake off.

Thinking of Gary’s family, and anyone else affected or struggling.
