I swear Salah is the only player who tries to play Nunez in when he makes a run. Everyone else shirks the responsibility.

Yeah agree - Szoboslai especially is so good at getting on the ball on the edge of the box but seems to never try it

We have the lead now let’s start moving the ball quicker and playing with some intensity. If we do, they won’t be able to live with us.
Has Steven Gerrard scored a goal even more important than the one he got against Olympiakos - Is this the start of something BIG?

I remember a few years ago, where the Sheffield United keeper spilled a shot and it just trundled into their goal. They'll be suffering PTSD flashbacks. ;D

Hope we bury them second half! Catch them napping early doors hopefully. But we need to be alert and make sure they don't mug us. We have a habit of starting halves not fully switched on.

We'll get more second half. Just think there's been a bit of complacency there from the lads because of who they are playing. Pretty sure Kloppo will give them a rocket up their arse in the half time team talk!

I get it, we’ve a packed fixture list and have been bitten by injuries and squeezed through but, 1-0 not enough. We’ve seen this game before they smash and grab and we’re all panicking looking for a 90 odd minute winner. The north london divers put 6 past these in their home ground.

We’re too ponderous and it’s all too samey. Grav is well off it and Gomez passing is mad. I’m sitting right above pretty much every minute of that half in my seat in U2, Harv 2nd half for a 21st birthday goal for him please. But also please just score another Reds then you can play like that

Gomez's passing has been fine.

We need to get in behind them more on the flanks. Stop cutting back inside at every opportunity, these lot pack the middle. We need Robbo here.

Play with speed and width to grab a second.

Gravenberch needs the minutes coming back from his injury. He’s had good moments but looks understandably not quite in tune. Be good to get Jones some too. Can see Elliott, Jones and Gakpo all coming on, around 60.

They’ll show them a few areas at half time and we’ll improve as always, it’s what we do.

Poor decision making in attack as I expected before the game. We've been like this for a while now. They're deep but they're not a fortress. There is space...we just aren't good enough to penetrate the spaces. Heavy touches all round and nothing into the right spaces.

Needs to improve second half. I think Gravenberch and Diaz are the only two who have tried to add x factor to the attack. Everyone else is a bit languish.

Disagree with those saying we're fine. SHU have had better chances in the first half than us at Anfield. Shouldn't be happening.

Game looks like a freeze frame, so easy to defend

As I said they're playing like a League One team in a big cup tie. They're crap but well up for it.

Both teams packing the center.
A left back would be nice. Really dont see the point of inverting Gomez, he's just in the way in the center
Gomez completely missing his man at the chance in the first minute
I guess we all see things differently. I think he’s been really involved in the game and broke things up won the ball and helped set our attacks away well

Steady enough from us.

Where are the Sheff Utd that tried to attack and shipped about 30 goals in a month?   :(

This i’d say we’re 3rd favourite for the league. Not only do teams want to beat us more than most but we also give up a lot of chances. So easy to get from your own half to the edge of our box.

All this GD needs to be put to bed we have a game to win first that is all that matters.

Get a second and then they have to come out more no point them just taking a low scoring defeat is there ?

It is nothing new for us though. Arsenal are way more faster and fluid with passing around than us. The whole set-up today is a little bit weird, only a few bodies in their box during attack. Weirdly narrow as well what makes it even easier for Sheffield.

We've not been good enough with the ball ultimately. Felt like a game where creatively we're missing absent players (some of Trent, Robbo, Jones, Jota, Elliott). The ones on the bench will be on shortly at this rate.

At some point Sheffield will have to come at us which should open up more space.

What do you mean they’re raising their game? They’ve done nothing different to how they’ve played against Arsenal or city. The only difference is we’re crowding the middle making it easier for them and moving the ball at snails pace

Gomez is fine, we're just trying to make him a creative player when he's a utility defender.  He's a fish out of water when he's asked to invert.
I don't agree, he'd go to Legoland. Bye.

We need to up the tempo in the final third, stop trying to play everything through the middle. Overlapping runs on the flanks to get behind their full backs.

I’m sitting a few feet away from him his passing’s been atrocious but he’s played well other than constantly playing the ball behind teammates.

Gomez is great in defence but slows down our attacks, he’s just not a central midfielder which is what the inverting position is with 80% possession. Need width.

What a strange game. The usual comatose start from us could have seen us concede twice. We've been in first gear after waking up. After the Ramadan break the game and atmosphere completely died and it was a case of them parking the bus and hoping for a break or set piece while we stroll around looking for a gap.

While it's only 1-0 we remain vulnerable, so hopefully we get into at least second gear in the second half and kill them off.
