Chief Exec of Lancashire was just on the radio saying that normally on the Sunday night, the week before a t20 Blast game they would have sold about 50-100 tickets, last night they'd sold over 1000 for next weeks game. They are now expecting an attendance of over 10,000 rather 6-7 thousand and they are putting it down to the interest generated by the World cup.

Specsavers County Championship Division Two at Cardiff, Jul 13-16 2019

Middlesex 384 & 342

Glamorgan 171 & 225/7 * (81.1 ov, target 556)

Day 4: Glamorgan require another 331 runs with 4 wickets remaining

All about Glamorgan trying to bat out the time left I guess. A defeat here could see them only walk away with 3 points I think.

Essex going top. Yorkshire are hammering current leaders Somerset and are going to win by an innings and plenty.

Essex need 5 more wickets today to complete a huge win against Warwickshire.

Suddenly they now have a crunch match coming up against Lancashire. They are 8 down now, but it sounds like they are going down swinging, 24 then 9 runs from the last two overs!!

Yorkshire destroy the leaders, beating Somerset by an innings and some. We move into third position - which indicates how weak the championship is this year i think.

Of course it’s weak, the best side isn’t in it.

Welsh Nick?

Yes I like the sound of that, has a nice ring to it, but it does need a middle name. Maybe 'Welsh Haggis Nick' perhaps.

Some exceptional overseas players in it this year. De Villiers (Middlesex), Guptill (Worcs), Finch (Surrey), Khan (Sussex), Tahir (Surrey), Azam (Somerset) and Amir (Essex) the pick of them. Got the likes of Maxwell, Mujeeb, Abbas, Carey, Morris et al too.

As for this strip at Trent Bridge I'm not a fan. In the opening T20 Blast game you want an absolute road, boundaries in and sixes all over the gaff, not a pitch that's slow. Even as a Notts fan I don't think this does you much favours down the line, fans will come back after a run fest. Not sure they'll be desperate if a team is scraping to 140 and trying to defend it.

Middlesex just chased 166 off 17 overs. De Villiers opens up with 88 off 43. They should be banned from playing him, it's cheating.

De Villiers is as close to a 1 man army as there is. Best cricketer in the last 10 years without a doubt.

Argh, Hales is castled by Barnard. Shame that, he was striking it clean. Still a quality player.

Ed Barnard is having himself an evening.

:D Fancied mixing it up a bit.

Shame they didn't get the full allotment of overs, could've done the first 300 I've ever seen in a T20. Not sure if it's happened anywhere around the world recently.
