Isnt it?

Jones, Wisdom, Carragher, Wilson, Robinson, Sahin, Henderson, Assaidi, Downing, Yesil, Pacheco.

Wow if that is accurate, I wonder who's going to be part of the 3-man midfield besides Sahin and Hendo. Pacheco plays best on the left, Assaidi is pretty comfortable there as well. So Downing might be on the right? Got a good feeling the tip of the midfield will be Pacheco. Isn't his best position again, but definitely better than up front alone considering how he likes to drop deep. Pretty interesting imo, always thought Pacheco could be pretty dangerous operating in that zone.

That is Dani's natural position, in the hole.

Downing and Assaidi will play on the right and left, fairly deep though i think. To make a four across the middle at times when were on the back foot, pacheco can drop in there too and then support yesil when we're in posession.

same team as EL group stage one and some game time for Yesil.

I'm more excited to see this team than our first team.

WBA are a good team this season. This would be a tough game for our first team tonight so i'm not expecting anything. But i can't blame Rodgers for wanting to make sure his first team are 100% for the next league game. We all love winning trophies but the League Cup is not obviously not a priority to the club whether we like it or not.

We are the holders. I haven't seen any quotes from Brend about downgrading this cup comp

However I guess we shall see what he makes of it by the team he fields. I really think we need a strong team out there as WBA will be taking it serious. Ok rest gerrard but have Suarez there.

Looking forward to this one. Cup games get my juices flowing. A chance Of silverware

Aye I get that, but from a purely selfish point of view, it would put my mind at rest that Carra isn't going to be picked over him in the league.

It's exciting to see all the young or new players. Although they'll have it tough if Clarke puts out a full side. Can't wait to see Yesil. I have no issues with leaving out our two most important centre halves [as we don't know when Aggers back], also Suarez and Gerrard are indispensible now as well. If any of them got injured in this competition Rodgers would be leathered for playing them.

Is this on the box anywhere?

Hope he plays. Pointless saving a CB for two matches in 4 days when he has had a week's rest.

I think it is more of a precaution so Coates doesn't get injured rather than saving him. Imagine Coates or Skrtel getting injured as well. Fortunately, Agger will be back soon so maybe he still gets a game.

Theres always a risk of player getting injured; and you can take that into account if a big match is coming up - but not a league game against Norwich.
Would love the 19th more and more trophies; but would love even more to see a fan owned LFC.

I don't see Sahin playing to be honest. After Shelvey's injury, surely he must now be in our first choice midfield and will play on the weekend.

No, Flannagan is injured. Carragher.
He wasn't perfect, he made mistakes. But he was genuine. He had the best interests of the club at heart, and gave us a plethora of successful teams that we should have been thankful for.

That's unfortunate, I would have liked to have seen Flanagan get another chance. As much as people deride the notion of Carragher's organising of the defence, I think that in this situation where we have three of the back four with 6 senior Liverpool appearance between them it could be a stabilising factor.

I'd actually consider keeping Borini in the side here.  He's come in for a lot of criticism, even though I think a lot of it is unwarranted and any chance to snatch a goal is a good thing.

Other than that just get the kids out there (or those that have been struggling for starts).  Would want to see Henderson and Sahin in the centre and be great to see Suso, Wisdom, Coates, Assaidi and Yesil at some point.

I have a feeling we might win this.  Wasn't it last season were we lost that dreadful game at Stoke in the league and then beat them in the League cup?

I agree with you on Borini, strikers need goals to get their juices running properly, more than that with him it's just taking the chance when it comes rather than trying to do that one thing extra. Ie, not a passing team in the penalty box.

Despite not having won any league games, I'm looking forward to each game, because we are giving so many young players a chance - from need and from intention - and they are responding really well.
I mean, who would have thought at the start of the season we could be going into a league cup game at WBA with possibly only 6 appearances plus Carra's many thousands in the back four? Tremendous opportunities for young players, and no better way to build up squad depth quickly.

And Stoke away last season was again a game of horrible decisions against us, I'm fairly sure, so it would be very enjoyable to repeat a similar revenge tonight.
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

To be honest I think this is going to need a far, far better performance from the young lads than the one against Young Boys. This West Brom side are no mugs and there's a potential here for us to get a mullering if the baggies are taking it as seriously as I think they might.

Don't get me wrong, these are a talented bunch of young lads, but a vastly weakend team against one that's flying in the prem, and away from home to boot, this could get really ugly really quickly.

What i'll say is this. No matter what the result, even if we get fucking tonked, the experience for the young lads will be really helpful in their development.

Sorry to sound negative, but I'm lookin at this realistically. This really will be men against boys tonight. I hope the lads can do themselves and the club proud, any form of result we'll take.
And when you find yourself along the untrodden path
Remember me with a smile, a drink, a gesture or a laugh
And a toast for the man who loves every hour of every day
And a feast for the friends and faces met along way

Not really a suprise we won the cup last season.

Just had a look through our line ups for all the away ties we had in the Carling Cup last season and they are really strong line ups with Pepe Reina starting every game.

Really hope our youngsters do the job tonight would be a shame to be out at the first hurdle as holders.
