Notts really are not good enough to compete at Championship level. If it’s not the batting failing the team, it’s the bowlers finding it impossible to press home an advantage. Hopefully do enough to survive and try to find some players from somewhere.

FFS, Lancashire, that's twice in the same match you've had Essex in some trouble, only for them to stage a massive recovery.

First innings - had Essex at 55-4, before a 155 stand helped them to 282. In the second innings, had them at 27-3 and then 186-7, before they declared for 292/8.

Similar has happened several times this season

Lancs, on the other hand, collapsed from 76-1 to 121-9.

A win is beyond Lancs now, being set 430 to win. They're 58-0 but I'm sure they'll find a way to collapse.

Not that it matters, they were probably out of the title picture anyway.

Not got the bowlers beyond Williams and Bailey. Blatherwick may come good but he's inexperienced. Hartley the same at CC Div1 level
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Essex look likely to win the T20 finals day with a right load of village cricket looking biffers. I think their wildest keeper might be the local blacksmith in Chelmsford.

146 to beat Somerset and win the final.

I've been watching all day and was gutted Hampshire didn't do better as I think they're the best team in it. Not sure if 146 will be enough to win for Somerset, but they've got the bowlers to make it close on this pitch.

Surely get Matt Henry on to get Sams. If he bats another three overs, Essex win.

Yorkshire have been deducted 48 points from the 2023 County Championship and fined £400,000 - of which £300,000 is suspended for two years - for their handling of the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal.

They have also been deducted four points for the 2023 T20 Blast.

That's pointless docking Yorkshire points from this years T20 blast which has already finished, & Yorkshire never made the quarter finals anyway, if anything Yorkshire should have been docked points from next years T20 blast.

The docked points in the county championship leave Yorkshire rock bottom of division 2.

Lancs have been on a good run in this after a couple of early no results.

Looking at the table they were level on points with whoever was above them with a far superior run rate, but below them, presumably on number of games won which seemed unfair given the no results.

Anyway, a win puts then through I think?

All a bit of a nothing season for Lancs.

In the T20, they threw it away in the quarter final, after being very well placed at the halfway stage.

Squeaked through the groups stage in the one-day cup but never got going in the eliminator round.

Surrey have strolled the county championship, with Lancs mid-table throughout.

Only lost once all season and inflicted the only defeat on Surrey too. But a bit too little too late. Could finish third if they end the season well.

That Balderson looks a talent. Takes wickets and has scored a couple of hundreds this season too.

As regards Balderson, I agree. Luckily England have plenty of prospects so he can learn his trade at OT while the Club benefits from his cricket.

How many times this season have Lancs had teams on the ropes early in an innings, before a recovery to a half-decent total?

Smacks of either a lack of bowling depth in the team, or a lack of bowlers able to operate well with an older ball.

Good to see that Yorkshire have learned the lessons of being exposed for the long period when racism was endemic there, by approving the takeover of the club by Colin Graves - the twat who dismissed racist bullying as just 'banter'.
