Going to be interesting comparing that video to whatever the final product ends up looking like. It won't matter because it will likely be hugely popular anyway, but I don't think they've done themselves any favours with that video. I mean, it's pretty ridiculous...

Been playing with it, pretty fun. Gutted I didn't have it for Tranmere yesterday, could have caught some weird things in Birkenhead.

Really clever little game, i'm impressed so far. Took it into the city this morning and caught a good few, and have hit level 6. I had a go at a gym near my house a bit ago but the servers seemed to go down mid fight? The enemy Zubat wouldn't drop below 1HP and I couldn't leave the fight either, meanwhile the little white ball kept spinning and I haven't been able to play since, so I guess the servers are struggling with the demand.

Bloody phone doesn't have a gyroscope though so the AR doesn't work :(

One thing I was wondering after attempting that gym - is fighting really just pressing the screen quickly? It seemed a bit daft. I admit I have only ever played Pokemon yellow so I don't know how the other games are, but the way you choose what move you want and take turns was much better than this

Seems bizarre it's not out in the UK yet when there's a workaround that people have been able to use.

Workaround seems a pain to be honest but might do it - anyone have any idea how big the game is MB/GB wise on iPhone?

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Played it for 2 days. Already bored of it. It feels hollow and simple, but it's decent for a free game. Maybe once they polish it in upcoming updates, it might get more interesting. Also, if you don't live in a city, be prepared to visit a lot of churches if you want to go to Pokestops.

Kudos to the creators for getting fat American kids off their asses.

Level 7 now. Haven't started battling because it seems like everyone in the gyms are too powerful right now. Got a day off tomorrow so good opportunity to catch a few. The CP of the pokemon seems to be random though, so I don't know if I'm wasting stardust by levelling up my Golbat

It was good fun until I realised there is no story, you don't really battle and the fighting is not turn based. A lot of potential in the game though

I mentioned about battling wild pokemon on a facebook post about it and got slated because "It's not going to be like the games!" apparently.

The whole point of it at the moment is to walk around, catch the same pokemon over and over until fully evolved, then go to a gym, quick battle, rinse and repeat.

It's an overly basic beta at the minute IMO, they need to add 1v1 battles into wild pokemon, so don't give you the option of using a team, just let you pick one of your pokemon whose at a similar level to the one you're facing, if you lose then the pokemon runs, if you win then you get the chance to capture it.

It'd make it far more interesting and fun and also give people more of a reason to go out looking for the same pidgey you've caught 20 times, because it'll help grow your pokemon quicker and make for more interesting gym battles.

They also need to explain the battle system properly aswell, at the minute, all you do is tap apparently and that's it, no thought in it at all.

It's a glorified fitness app at the minute.

Aye, pretty sure they'll change it moving forward. Its pretty hectic at the moment though, never known anything like it for an app. Big groups of people just walking round from stop to stop.

It's completely pointless, if you want to play a Pokemon game just download an emulator to your phone. If you can't battle then it has no competitive or tactical element to it.

I'm Aussie but live here so was able to download it off my Aussie app store.

Anyone know the best places in Liverpool to get Pokemon? All I'm getting are Drowzy's and Pidgeys around the Seel/Bold St area. Think I might try Sefton Park later this week and  hopefully catch a few.

I got a magneton in concert square the other day and chased a pikachu down berry street near Genting. Down by the river Mersey there was gloom, polywag etc

I'm not sure there's specific areas that have the rarer Pokemon or if they're just random. Having it open whilst on the bus has helped a lot too

The best places to find Pokemon are highly populated, city areas. I'm not from Liverpool but I get so much more success in our city centre than in any parks or suburban areas, which is ironic.

It's completely pointless, if you want to play a Pokemon game just download an emulator to your phone. If you can't battle then it has no competitive or tactical element to it.

It's fair enough that you don't like it, but it's far from pointless, it's getting people out of their house and socialising with each other, I have already made a few friends just out and about playing this game. Also it does have a competitive edge through the capturing and holding of gyms for your team, even though I don't like the battling system. And it's fun to head out and see what you can find, after all the catchphrase of Pokemon is "Gotta Catch Them All"

I saw a video of some guy using a lure or whatever it is at midnight to attract trainers and sitting in a car with the lights off. The tools are there.

I'm not gonna lie this also comes from my hate of mobile games as well as other things like pachinko machines, their simplicity rakes in money but they've resulted in the death of my favourite franchise, Metal Gear Solid. People are easily pleased.

And if it wasn't for the app he'd just wait down an alley anyway and mug somebody. If somebody is worried about getting mugged then don't walk around a dangerous deserted area at midnight, use your common sense.
