He'll win the league in the next 3 years. Quote me on that.
Quote me on this, but come next season he'll be great for us. Just needs to remove the walking headless chicken next to him

So, reading both Tuchel and Klopp's comment, I see him playing as an 8 and we won't be moulding him into a 6.

Certainly reads that way, lots of competition and rotation options for those two more advanced midfield positions.

Pretty clear we’ve identified a weakness and have done everything we can to make sure we have 5-6 players to rotate through there once we start playing twice a week and the games start coming thick and fast.

Superb buy really, I know we have Endo but would love to see a Mac, Gravenberch and Szobo midfield would be pretty much everything I like in a midfield three. I wonder if at some stage we will go three CBs in defence  say Konate - VVD - Gomez/Quansah?

Welcome lad.

Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Endo, Thiago, Jones, Elliott, Bajcetic should be more than enough for the midfield.

The rebuild still feels weird though. Fabinho and Henderson have been parts of the furniture, but hopefully it’s onwards and upwards!

I still have a feeling Klopp has no intention of making him a 6, maybe MacAllister and Endo cover that instead.

An offensive-minded number 8 is pretty much the last thing we needed.

He’s young and talented which is nice, but we have much bigger squad needs that still haven’t been met.

Superb summer for the midfield. Revamped with some exciting prospects who are already showing their quality.

Really excited for this season now. just need a bit of luck with injuries in defence, and we will be ballin'.
Mark my words. Top 8 will be a massive struggle.
We won't make any big signings this season and we will go back to being a top4 club.

We've got the best midfield in the world,

We got Xabi Alonso, Momo Sissoko, Gerrard & Mascherano...

Now we got Alexis MacAllister,  Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch & Wataru Endo

Doesn't roll off the tongue as easily, does it?  ;)

Watching his compilation it makes more sense playing him as a 8.

Assuming him Mac and Dom are the 3 regular starters (most likely) I think Klopp will just keep playing Mac as the 6. If Thiago plays he will be the 6 as well with Mac moving up.
We will change from the defensive/destroyer type to the deep lying playmaker type because we have two 8s who are strong runners and all rounders. It reminds me of the super trio Juve had several years ago with Pirlo at the base and Vidal/Marchisio/Pogba as the 8s. Honestly Thiago played like that for Bayern as well and Mac has all the atrributes to be that type.

welcome ryan! thought he looks fluid in the way he plays during his preseason game with us.

midfield evolution in one transfer window!

we have gone from workmanlike to a more technical set up

hopefully doesnt take long for the players to adapt and get the best out of the team and each other

I’m really quite happy with this signing, I’ve been an admirer since his Ajax days.

I do wonder now, if Klopp has the tools to focus on implementing the box midfield without needing to invert Trent, in certain scenarios.

It would mean losing an attacker at times, but with ten men against Newcastle, we kept the box so as t outnumber their midfield and created both of our goals that way. Of course there was an element of luck to the win, but it was luck off the back of clever tactical manipulation of an initial disadvantage, and one of the best in-game shape changes I’ve seen in some time.

Gravenberch has clearly been signed to dovetail between 6 and 8. If we can harness his physical frame and power with some defensive discipline we’ll have a top player.
“Seeing these smiling faces is the greatest pleasure. They have been magnificent all season. They have been our 12th man. I have always said our fans are the best in England. Now I know they are the best in Europe too.” Rafa Benitez

Wont lie, this is a pretty exciting signing. Had we nicked this kid from Ajax it would make a bigger splash. There goes Liverpool, stockpiling some of worlds most exciting midfield talent, they would say. But for some reason his Bayern intermezzo has made the whole world casually bin this boy in the ‘flopped’ drawer. His future is apparently written already, not good enough to make it at the biggest clubs. Yeah. Right. As if you become the youngest starter at one of most prominent clubs for nurturing young talents by being phasef by the big club experience. You don’t.

I really feel what we have here could be special. Sure, raw and in need of moulding - but still special. As long as he comes with the right attitude and applies himself (try not doing it with Van Dijk right behind you), this could be a transformative episode in his career. And it probably won’t take long. I bet he’s itching to go out and make his mark.

Welcome Ryan.
This is your chance to be a football mega-star if you want it.
Work hard, do as you're told by the manager, learn about the city, work hard, appreciate the club is bigger than you, work hard. Earn a song. Work hard.
Ask Bobby what it means to get a song. Work hard. Make yourself a legend. Earn a status. Love your song if it comes.
Make a difference to our last 12 months of inadequacy.
It means working hard. If you do, and you deliver. Any trophy, even the one in February, you'll never ever forget it.
Your colleagues will be selected before you. Work hard to stop that.

Welcome and enjoy LFC Ryan, it has more to offer than you realise.

Tomorrow is an unopened present.

Great post. Someone should paste this up at the AXA.
