Are those broadcast dates actually fixed are just a very rough idea which Sky and BT will change when they feel like it?

They're the latest dates that fixtures can be changed, technically, but Sky are known to go over by a week or so sometimes. On the whole they're quite accurate though. Sky said the first batch should be out around 3rd July.

Comparing last year's dates to actual:

August and September   11th July actual 7th July
October and November   12th August actual 12th August
December 2016 and January 2017   12th October actual 14th October
February   12th December 2016 actual 13th December
March   25th January 2017 actual 25th January
April   27th February actual 28th February
May - first fixture programme   6th April actual 30th March
May - second fixture programme   13th April actual 12th April

Will never understand the obsession and hype over the fixture announcements.

We play every team in the league twice, once at home and once at their place. Every year.

I do think you have 'better' fixture lists, for example for a settled team like Spurs, they would benefit from playing City away earlier in the season as all their megabucks signings won't have clicked yet and have likely played a handful of competitive games together.

Additionally you want home ties if possible against easier sides after European nights, especially aways where you'll be travelling and won't be able to prep as well.  Yes, you still expect teams to turn up and perform, but lets not claim an away against Atletico and then an away against Chelsea four days later is just as easy as an away against Newcastle.

Except nothing is certain in football. Just look at last season and how we struggled against the dross of the league.

Teams go on hot streaks, teams go on cold streaks. Injuries pile up. Other teams, not just Liverpool, have fixture pile ups. Other teams, not just Liverpool, have mid-week European games. Other teams, not just Liverpool, have cup games to deal with. Players get suspended. Star forwards go on scoring droughts. The list can go on, I think you catch my drift.

Will never understand the moaners about the order we play teams in. Going out and trying to get 3 points every game is all that matters.

Not a bad fixture list. No particularly difficult runs, nor particularly easy runs. If we can find a higher level of consistency this season, we should pick up a lot of points. That said, December is a crazy month. Squad depth will be really important then.

Plus one European game, 1or 2 FA Cup games and up to 3 League Cup games!

We can be basically playing every midweek apart from the international breaks for most of the season. It's why we need to have a better squad this time.

UCL group will really have an effect on our schedule. Since we would be in Pot 3 we could end up with two really good teams that will be dropped into our schedule.

4 games in 10 days over the festive period.  ::)

If we reshuffle the FA cup into a group stages then surely this can be brought down to 8 days.
You jest, but I wouldn't be surprised if the FA is already discussing this.

I have races on the day of the Arsenal (H) and Man City (A) matches. FFS. I always manage to miss the big games when they're early in the season.

December looks rough. 20% of the season in less than a month. I hope JK is ready for it this time around.

Pretty even spread of fixtures this year. No real horror runs. Although equally no real 'easy' runs other than maybe December although even that has Arsenal away.

What I do want to say though is that Klopp MUST rotate that team over that Christmas period. Games on 23rd, 26th, 30th and 1st. I really hope we don't need more than 3 or 4 players playing both of those 30th/1st games. I hope we see lots of changes over all those 4 games so that the team is fresh. Even a case of almost having two separate teams, something that should be possible with the additions this summer. We have got quite lucky in that we don't have incredibly difficult games over that period like we did in 13/14.

Should be enough for wholesale changes between the game on the 30th and the one on the 1st. One game a midfield of Henderson, Lallana, Winaldum. Another game a midfield of Emre, Coutinho and Keita (or whichever top midfielder we get this summer. Similar changes in the front line too with Firmino up top one game with say Mane/Salah on the side and then Origi and Sturridge up top in the other. Not much drop in quality and we get two teams completely fresh.

Thanks. Now updated.

And December still isnt looking any better for us. From the Champions league games of 21-22 Nov until the new year game on 1. Jan, we are playing 13 games in 40 days. 2 Champions league, 1 League Cup, and 10 premier league games including Chelsea home, Everton home and Arsenal away. If thats not fixture congestion, I dunno what is. And this doesnt take into account of any potential idiotic and unecessary replays in the cup competitions.

And as Dan pointed out,

March
17 - FA Cup Round 6
17 - Watford (H)

April
21 - FA Cup SF
21 - West Bromwich Albion (A)

So thats 2 games postponed in the event of us going that far in the FA cup.

If we stay in all competitions, then the only breaks on weekends or in midweek from the start of the season until January 13 are the international breaks. Here's hoping a few of our players have 'a little niggle' and are unavailable for internationals.

Still, plenty of football for us to watch!

Genuinely surprised that our opening match of the season is going to be on TV (Saturday 12th at 12.30pm on Sky Sports).

They're doing Arsenal-Leicester on the Friday night, us at lunchtime Saturday, Brighton-Man City on Saturday night then Newcastle-Spurs and United-West Ham on the Sunday.

Had a feeling the Arsenal game would move to the Sunday. That's my birthday and I'll be in Marbella with two Gooners (plus a Manc). We simply have to win

Works out ok for us with the first leg of the CL qualifier being the following week. As much time as possible to rest

Is it only me but shouldn't the defending league champions be on tv on the first weekend as well? They are technically defending their title.
