They are a notoriously poor company for customer service...
I've heard this a lot, and I'm by no means questioning what you're saying, but I guess I must have just been lucky every time I've used the customer services because they've always been extremely quick and very helpful. We've had Virgin broadband for at least five years now and whenever I've had an issue, admittedly not that often, they've always sorted the issue with minimum fuss. They also contact me whenever there is a better deal available for me which has resulted in much better broadband (152mb) and lower bills.
However, from speaking to colleagues who also have Virgin, and other things that I've read, I get the impression my experiences have been the exception rather than the rule.
We recently moved and, in a cost cutting exercise to help negate some of the extra mortgage cost, we quit Sky and moved over to Virgin to include TV as well as our broadband. Everything seems to be fine at the moment, the broadband is brilliant and always has been, but the one thing I have noticed is that from about 7/8PM until around midnight the Tivo box and the remote are extremely hit and miss. You press a button on the remote, the light on the Tivo box flashes immediately to register that the remote is being picked up, but nothing happens. We have to repeat the process several times in order to get the channel to change or to search the listings etc. That said, if I press the 'Home' button it's recognised instantly and it works exactly as expected. That is, however, the only button that works like that.
I just wondered; has anyone else had experienced that issue and, if so, have you been able to sort it?
I've changed the batteries in the remote and we've even had a brand new Tivo box put in but we still get the same issue. A colleague of mine has had Virgin for years and he's never had an issue. I've actually just bought a new remote, not a Virgin brand one I should add, just to see if that will make a difference because when they gave us the new box they left us the old remote - I figured it could well be a reconditioned remote that's on it's way out. It's weird though because it really is only an issue for a few hours in the evening.
