TEAM JOGA BONITO... the beautiful game:
- centrebacks who are good on the ball, dominant in the air and aggressive man-markers. Also a dangerous threat on set pieces.
- fullbacks who attack down the wing overlapping my inverted wingforwards. Possessing solid dribbling/crossing skills. Ze Roberto can play as an inverted fullback too, supporting Lothar and combining with our playmakers.
- a complete midfield, who can control the game through possession, win the ball back quick, both dynamic and expressive. Masters of passing and space awareness.
- versatile wingforwards, who can play on both the wing, centrally or drop deeper (both creative and goalscoring threats). A prolific striker who is a master in the box.

Had lots of choice for most positions including cb where I had the opportunity to draft Hierro who was genuinely Xabi' hero so he is captain also. Had fun doing it. Well in Mikey. This team would give anyone a game. Top side and I commend it to the house

Let’s hope he doesn’t go into management! No balance to that team at all.

Team Maldini. Purple was the only colour the Milan/Juve/Inter lads could agree on.

With two leftbacks. At least pick Baresi at CB.

I can't say anything. Maldini was going to be a CB in my team until I wasn't allowed him  :)

Of course, he was a great CB too. But I'd argue his peak position was LB. Baresi should always come first for pure CB ability.

Would people rather 4 groups (3 of 3 and 1 of 4) or 2 groups (1 of 6, the other 7)?

Maldini was and still is the Prince of left backs. The best there's ever been. Similarly Baresi at centre back. The best

So here are the two groups:

Group A
Nicholls
Robbie
Wullie
Mikey
Nick
Tubby
Samie

Group B
Drinks Sangria
Betty
Draex
Viva
Max
Red1977

Everyone will play everyone in their group once with the top 4 from each group qualifying for the QFs. 4th place will play 1st in the other group, and 2nd will play 3rd, so keep strengthening your teams throughout the competition. The semi finals will be the winners of the 1st in A v 4th in B against the winners of 3rd in A v 2nd in B, and vice versa for the other semi final.

Rules for strengthening your teams:

After each rounds of games in each group (1 group has 5 rounds, the other 7), teams will be able to make changes to their teams, by exchanging out their current players for new players. All teams must still include 11 different categories with 1 category assigned to each player. Any player dropped from your team becomes available to draft for other players.

On top of this, new categories will be introduced after the 2nd, 4th and final rounds of games in both groups have finished. New categories will be posted during final games in each of the rounds listed, with changes in those categories open once those games finish. There will not be any draft order, so just post your picks in the selection thread with the players you'd like to drop. After these you will still have 11 different categories represented, even though there will then be more than 11 categories.

Each round of games will run for 24 hours, with games from Group A and Group B playing on alternating days. Your groups rest days will be when you can make changes to your teams. To make a change on these rest days, just post your change in the discussion group.

If you make any changes to your teams please post a new line-up to be used for future rounds.

Once the groups are done and the final round of changes are complete your teams will be locked down for the knock out rounds.

I hope that all makes sense. I'll be posting the first round of games shortly.

Best of Luck!

Cheers Mikey. When we swap do we swap a player for another player in that same category eg: If I swap Coman which is category 6, I can only replace him with another category 6 player linked to my inspiration or i am free to choose another category say i can replace him with a category 11 as long as the player is not taken? I would then have x2 category 11s.

So you can replace a category 6 player with a category 11 player only if you also replace your category 11 player with a category 6 player. Basically you can make all the changes you want but need all 11 categories still represented at the end.
