Surely now he will be backing May? The membership and MP's supporting Johnson will have seen this as Gove stabbing Johnson in the back and support her?
He's got to. I'm not sure the split between him and Gove was necessarily personal - Gove (and more importantly, their backers) have seen Boris reigning back on the promises about immigration and the single market this week. Boris's natural position, it seems, is now back in the moderate 'heal the nation' camp, after being a driving force in fucking it up in the first place.
All for the personal ambition of leadership. At least Gove is now standing for the principles of the 'Leave' campaign, rancid fascist that he is.
