League Cup 3rd Round 26th - 27th September
« on: September 26, 2023, 08:16:38 am »
TUESDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER

Bradford City v Middlesbrough 19:45
Exeter City v Luton Town 19:45
Ipswich Town v Wolverhampton Wanderers 19:45
Mansfield Town v Peterborough United 19:45
Port Vale v Sutton United 19:45
Salford City v Burnley 19:45
Manchester United v Crystal Palace 20:00 skysports

WEDNESDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER

Aston Villa v Everton 19:45
Blackburn Rovers v Cardiff City 19:45
AFC Bournemouth v Stoke City 19:45
Brentford v Arsenal 19:45
Chelsea v Brighton & Hove Albion 19:45
Fulham v Norwich City 19:45
Lincoln City v West Ham United 19:45
Liverpool v Leicester City 19:45
Saudi Arabia v Abu Dhabi 20:00 skysports

Only 2 games on TV from this round, with only 1 of them involving a big club.
I get that small clubs should be on TV the odd time, but Saudi and Abu Dhabi get plenty of TV coverage in the league, so why not put on something like Lincoln v West Ham or Port Vale v Sutton?

You could argue that millions want to watch Utd, but you're right in that who gives a fuck about Saudi Arabia v Abu Dhabi? If that have to go PL, then Brentford v Arsenal would be a better choice

Agreed, Brentford vs Arsenal would have been the better pick of matches than the sportswashing derby.

Chelsea Brighton wouldve been a better story too, Todd against the club that took all his money then pissed all over his team. Even Villa Everton is a more exciting match up than 2 sportswashing clubs that would normally meet in the championship if it wasnt for the oil billions.

Only Sky have coverage? If so that's so stupid and unfair, spread it out to ITV/BBC so smaller clubs get games on :/

Even tonight you have

Exeter vs Luton
Ipswich vs Wolves
Salford vs Burnley

All far more intriguing than United vs Palace

there’s actually a lot of good matchups in tomorrow nights games. Of course, a lot of those teams will pick second string sides, but still, decent. They show the games on ESPN+ over ‘ere, and they’ve picked Villa vs Everton, Brentford vs Arsenal, Chelsea vs Brighton, our match and the sportswashing derby for the tv games.

Chelsea surely have to go very strong for their match? Even if it’s ‘just’ the league cup, they have no Europe, and they can’t afford to lose again, and especially at home again. Brighton will surely rest quite a few players.

It shouldn't be about which games should be televised - they all should be. I get the 3pm watershed and I actually like that timeslot with multiple PL games on at once (I thought it was horrific after Covid when all matches were played at different times), but there is absolutely no reason not to be showing these fixtures. It would also actually increase peoples interest in the competition.

Palace too many changes to do anything useful tonight and will get beaten by Utd at the weekend too when both go with stronger squads. They probably should have risked a bit more tonight.

I know they’ve made changes, but still surpised as to how strong Man Utd have gone, but I suppose after their poor form, they can’t risk making too much hard work of this. Palace won’t be that arsed with this game, staying in the PL is their one priority.

If I was a fan of a mid table side, effectively seeing your side give up your best (only?) shot of a trophy, to rest players for no reason at all, I’d be totally pissed off.

I switched a while back to watch Paris FC v Laval in Ligue2.  There's a player on the pitch, Yoan Kore, who is apparently a target for Manchester United.  With a name like that he'll fit in well.
