Finished it last night. I stand by my initial impressions of the game and of the reviews I've seen, the Machinima one is closer to the truth than most others, although a 6/10 is a little bit too harsh given the game's polish. But for me, that's the thing: the polish is just a veneer to mask what a shallow, linear experience this game was, summed up in entirety by the anti-climatic ending. Epic boss encounter, you say? Here, have a lovely 2 button QTE instead. It was also just far too easy. I couldn't give a toss about the relics, or finding the Tombs, of which just aren't even worth the time anyway. My biggest gripe, though, was for a game supposedly pitching the character development of the main character as "a survivor", there certainly wasn't much of an arch there. Lara had gone from someone who falls over a lot (and continued to do so throughout) which made her initially seem vulnerable because she gets wounded in the first event, to a full blown indestructible female version of Rambo in literally a matter of the first few moments of the game. Prophet in Crysis ain't got shit on Lara, even with all his Nanosuit tech. So much for the survivor element. You're required to hunt and shoot a single deer which is in your face from the outset and that's that over. Rambo mode active from there on in. It did have it's good moments, but those were too few and far between. The level at night in the forest was as close as the game came to offering at least a degree of variety in the gameplay, but it was too short lived. Damp squib for me. It looked nice, though. 7/10
