I could recognize 5 Barca players right away. I would think most of them will be starters as well. Sergi Gomez and Muniesa should start, but Jordi Amat had more experience with Espanyol and might get a chance ahead of one of these. Albert Blazquez wasn't bad on FM, but never watched in action, and I believe he will be a bench player.

Sergi Roberto and Rafa Alcantara should start in midfield, but again, the competition is serious. I think Koke will definitely start, and I can see Pablo Sarabia and/or Isco starting as well. As always, a serious competition in midfield for Spain.

Consequently, I can see them playing one of the 4-5-1 formations. I am a bit surprised that Oriol Romeu hasn't been called up, is he injured? If not, he could have been a good defensive midfielder for Spain.

Yes, there are reports that he missed months due to injury, Romeu. He came back and played a game recently. May be coaches thought he will not be fit enough to play. A shame, because he is a cracking player.

Seen him a few times, he'd probably start for us.

England - Montenegro and Spain - Switzerland at the same time

Unfortunately for Spain Rafa Alcantara and Paco Alcacer had to pull out because of injuries and Real Madrid's Alex Fernandez and Ruben Sobrino have replaced them.  I don't know how Suso was not called up for this.

Anyway, still plenty of good players for Spain: Koke, Sergi Roberto, Sarabia, Isco, Juanmi, Deulofeu, Morata...

England are 1-0 up after 53 mins.. Harry Kane scored.

Spain also 1-0 up after 53 mins.. Goal scored by Juanmi.

Also, Stephen Sama played 90 mins for Germany earlier today as they won 3-0 against Hungary.

Isco scores Spain's second goal. A lot of very promising players in this team, Sarabia, Muniesa, Amat and Koke particularly impressive.

2-1  From a set piece.  Oddest header you'll ever see

edit- Sarabia hurt his knee.  Deulofeu looks set to come on.  His pace could be lethal on a counter.

The Republic of Ireland qualified for their first UEFA European Under-19 Championship finals in nine years with a convincing defeat of Italy.

Ireland went into the elite round Group 4 decider in Poland two points behind their opponents but goals from Connor Murphy, substitute Sean Murray and Joseph Shaughnessy sealed victory against a side who ended with nine men. Paul Doolin's team will compete in Romania from 20 July and in the draw in Bucharest on 8 June join the hosts, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Greece, Serbia and two further teams to be decided next week.

Elite round
The elite round draw featured 28 teams who were drawn into seven group of four, each producing a qualifier for the finals in Romania.

The final tournament draw will feature eight teams: hosts Romania and the seven elite round winners. They will be split into two groups of four with full details to be confirmed closer to the draw date (June 8th). The top two in each section will progress to the semi-finals.

So are the games being played this week just qualifiers for the final round? Which would explain why they haven't been televised?

Yeah these are just Elite round qualifiers, the final tournament starts on July 20th.

As for highlights, I'm not sure, but the Spain game yesterday was streamed on Marca's website.

Juanmi of Malaga scored the first two today and he also scored the first and assisted the second in the first match against Switzlerand.  And he wasn't even the in the original squad! He was named as a replacement for Luis Alberto of Sevilla.

edit- and he also forced a penalty today which Isco missed unfortunately.

Of all the players in the Spain squad, Isco impresses me the most. The way he moves with the ball is a joy to watch. I also like Koke, he keeps it simple but does it very effectively, and has a lot of similarities to players like Alonso and Xavi. Muniesa is another who looks good, even though (I think) he is playing out of position, and Ruben Pardo, who I hadn't heard of before watching these games. Some great prospects in this team.
