anyone a fan here? heard the trooper again on the radio and fell in love all over again with them. bruce's voice seems to have aged a bit, but i still think they sound brilliant.

Fucking magic band.

Lost there way a bit when Bruce left but their last 3 albums have been superb.

First caught them in 1983 on the Piece of Mind tour at Manchester Apollo.

Ace live band, who have my full respect.

Still listen to the first album (Iron Maiden) on vinyl, with Paul DiAnno on vocals....raw, punk but never aged......superb stuff.

I agree but we'll never know if he would have had the showmanship and charisma to take Iron Maiden to places they've been with Bruce Dickinson.

Same here, although it was Cardiff St David's Hall, absolutely fantastic (although I was partially deaf for a few days after).

Oh, I'm sure he didn't, but then I don't really care as I'm not a fan. heavy Rock/Metal was the music of my youth, but more AC/DC, Def Leppard and the likes (more rock than metal, I guess)

I haven't heard Iron Maiden for literally decades, but as I recall they were a lot softer before Dickinson.

Fantastic band, agree that the Blaze Bailey almums are a bit crap, but the DiAnno albums were amazing (Phantom of the Opera and all that).  Pity what happened to him (apparently he got too caught up in the drink and drugs aspect so they got Bruce in to replace him) although Bruce obviously took the band's sound to a whole new level.

I've seen them live 3 times so far (At the MEN for the Dance of Death and Matter of Life and Death tour and at Leeds 2005 for the Early Years tour) and have been blown away every time.  Bruce even quoted Shanks on the last tour.

Off to see them at Twickenham in a few weeks for a "Somewere in Time" based gig and I can't wait.

dianno was good with maiden, but bruce just took them to a completely different level. there's just something about bruce that you know is special.

i envy those who've seen them live. i'm probably never gonna get to see them, as much as a want to. :(

interesting thing about maiden is that i actually picked them up from my dad. i grew up listening to them!  :D

First time on the Somewhere in Time tour in 86/87 at the Empire. Smoking a spliff when my maths teacher was standing next to me in the line!

Done donnington 3 times Dublin once. Paris 3 times and this year twickenham.

Last tour they played a charity gig at Brixton academy for the old drummer with MS. I managed to get hold of back stage passes and was at the end of tour party! Shat meself when I found Steve Harris lives 2 miles from me and his daughter was going out with one of my footy mates.

Twickenham this year. If you see me say hello I will have a maiden T shirt on should spot me drunk.

Might have to provide a better description than that, although I'll probably meet that criteria as well.

Although I've only got a shirt from the most recent tour.

In my opinion, the best metal band ever.  My friend's band opened for them when they played in Dubai and they were all just taken in by the Energy that these guys possessed at 50 and were raving about their live act even though they were far from Maiden fans.

Some unbelievably good tunes through the years.  Run through the Hills, Hallowed be thy name, The number of the beast, Where Eagles dare, Wrathchild, All great songs.

Went to see them at Twickenham last saturday and they were amazing, probably the best I've seen them play and maybe even the best gig I've ever been to.  Came on stage to Aces High with fireworks and everything, had flames bursting from the stage during NOTB, had a gigantic mummified eddie for when they did Iron Maiden and finished with Hallowed Be Thy Name.  Also played Revelations, my favourite Maiden song which I never thought I'd hear live again.  Only slight dissapointment was that they played The Clairvoyant as the song for when eddie comes on stage, which isn't the best song in my opinion.  The energy and the enthusiasm was incredible though and the set was over 2 hours long.

They also confirmed another album is in the pipeline so expect them to play the MEN next year sometime.

By far my favourite band, their music is some of the best in the business both their old stuff from the 80s and their new stuff. They did have a mediocre period in the 90s but since Bruce (and Adrian) came back they've been awesome. Their live shows are almost untouchable,  few bands can top them live. Absolutely superb stuff.

I was also there, fucking amazing, that's the only way i can sum it up. When they played the Rime of the Ancient Mariner followed by powerslave i nearly died. One of the greatest bands ever in my opinion. They've never got the credit they deserve and for a bunch of oldies, their last album, a matter of life or death, was epic as fuck and one of their best, if not the best, since seventh son imo. Like you said mate, the energy they still put out on stage is fucking incredible and shows just how much better they are than pretty much everyone else these days.

First girl to post in here.. Hmm.. No other girls out there that is Maiden fans?? ???

I love Maiden, they are the best band I have ever heard music from! And all of you that has been to one of their concerts, I envy you a lot. I really wish t go to one of those that they have here in Norway next week, but that isn't possible :( :(

I generally think that all their music is great, even some of that from the Blaze Bayley period :-\ Paul Di'Anno wasn't bad either, but I much prefer Bruce :P Love him. Think that he makes Maiden what they are ::)
A Matter Of Life And Death is the one I like the most. Not one song on it that I dislike. Lovely album, and an exceptionally good band.
I'm proud to say that I'm a Iron Maiden fan :D

Just had a message from a friend of mine who recently worked with Debbie and Blaze Bayley to help promote his new album, “The Man Who Would Not Die.”

Blaze is a talented vocalist who used to be with Wolfsbane and Iron Maiden who is now carving out a solo career for himself. Debbie, his wife and manager, recently suffered a double cerebral hemorrhage and has not regained consciousness. She is in hospital in critical condition. It is very, very serious.

Please take some time to send a message of support to them at messagesofsupport@gmail.com - they will be forwarded directly to Debbie and Blaze.

They are really good people who genuinely care about the fans. Please take a minute to send them a note of support in this difficult time.

Gutted at this news, i've got my fingers crossed that she can make a recovery. I love all blaze's solo albums since he left maiden and I still think the X factor is a good maiden album. I'm listening to THe man who would not die at the moment and it's fantastic.

Very sad time for them when they should be celebrating a world tour and a brilliant new record :(

Iron Maiden f**king rule.

I thought A Matter Of Life And Death was a bit samey, but Dance Of Death was awesome, so they've still got a lot of life left in them.

I've seen them live twice and would love to go again, it's a magical atmosphere.
