Top scoring contribution (goals + assists) seasons in the PL era ;

Edit: Numbers were a bit off. Table with correct numbers a few posts down.

The moment he touches the ball he just oozes class and looks the most natural footballer I have probably seen. A Great signing and Klopp is getting us there slowly but surely..

Mo Salah 2017/2018 stats

Mo Salah is the first Egyptian player to score a Premier League hat-trick, with Egypt the 43rd nation overall and the 10th African country to provide a hat-trick scorer in the competition. Unstoppable.

36 – Salah has now scored more goals than any other Liverpool player in their debut season at the club.

In 125 years, only six Liverpool players have ever scored more in any season than Salah’s current tally of 35.

Most goals by an African player in a single Premier League season: 2009/10: Didier Drogba (29). 2017/18: Mohamed Salah (28).

Mohamed Salah is the Premier League’s top scorer. Following his assist for Firmino, only De Bruyne and Sané have more assists this season.

Mo Salah is the first Liverpool player to score a Premier League hat-trick under Jurgen Klopp.

Mohamed Salah is the 4th Liverpool player to score 4 goals in a Premier League game after Robbie Fowler (2), Michael Owen (2) and Luis Suarez.

That's unbelievable given just how many goals we've scored under Jürgen  :shocked

Probably not sharing anything anybody else here hasn't already checked up on...

Refreshing myself on statistics and Ronaldo scored 42 goals in 49 appearances in 07-08, 31 league and 11 cups, 8 of which in Europe.

Mo has scored 36 goals in 40 appearances, 28 league and 7 in Europe.  In his first season.

Granted, Ronaldo was only 22, but fecking hell that's a helluva statistic.

I think he’ll catch Suarez, but it would be a hell of an achievement to surpass Henry from 02/03. That was an unbelievable season from him.

Cant be right

The premier league assist record is held by Henry, but i'm 1000% sure its with 20 Assists not 25. It was repeated constantly within the last few seasons when Ozil got to a decent amount looking likely to beat it with a load of games to spare and still didn't hit it (15/16 season iirc, he eventually finished on 19)

If i'm correct, the top is 44

Yep,

according to wikepedia:
Most Premier League assists in a season: 20, Thierry Henry (Arsenal, 2002–03)
He scored 24 goals in that same season too.

I'm really not arsed about the assists  As nice as it would be for Mo, what counts for me is his goals.  Going from 9 assists to 20 with just 9 games (at least) remaining is a bit of a tall ask, even for Salah!  We have so many players assisting already that it's not that big a deal for me.  This is a true team that is greater than the sum of its parts, and it is magical.

The numbers are from Transfermarkt. I know they count penalites won as assists if the penalty is scored so I manually counted each of those and excluded them. It's possible some "pens won" type assists weren't marked as such in the earlier seasons on that site though, if it's wrong that's what I'd guess at least.

Fair play mate, i've never used that site for anything. Always find their stats and numbers a bit strange especially when it comes to transfers

I've always felt the assist record was 20 as that's what its always listed as in newspaper articles and football shows

As Kenny Dalglish use to always say when asked a question about points or stats, "we'll wait until the end of the season and tot all the numbers up".

I'm looking forward to Mo's final totting up. Probably record breaking, undoubtedly envied, and perversely uncelebrated by some media outlets.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool FC gave this lad the season of his life. Few footballers ever experience what Mo has this year. It's got to be contextualised.

Just been looking at the Premier League records and he could blow a few of them away.
Should beat this one
Most goals in a debut season: 30, Kevin Phillips (Sunderland, 1999–2000)

Should also beat this one
Most goals in a season (38 games): 31, joint record:[71]
Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers, 1995–96)
Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United, 2007–08)
Luis Suárez (Liverpool, 2013–14)

Could beat this one
Most goals in a season (42 games): 34, joint record:[70]
Andrew Cole (Newcastle United, 1993–94)
Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers, 1994–95)

Not sure how close he is to this one, but can’t be far off
Number of teams scored against in a season: 17, joint record:
20-team league:[73]
Ian Wright (Arsenal, 1996–97)
Robin van Persie (Arsenal, 2011–12)
22-team league:
Andrew Cole (Newcastle United, 1993–94)
Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers, 1994–95)

And he’s already broke this one
Most goals with left foot in a season: 21, Mohamed Salah (Liverpool 2017–18 Premier League)

Wouldn’t be surprised to see all of these broken by Mo this season

Salah and his ankle breaking killer crossovers.
Put together with his jab feint and stutter step, almost feel sorry for the defender.
Thought he would do well for us, maybe as good as Mane's first season was. But never, ever, imagined we'd get what we're getting thus far.
What a player, what a record, and as far as I was concerned , what a pleasant surprise.

He's having the best goalscoring season of any player PL-era so far and in terms of La Liga strike rate from open play, only one of Ronaldo's seasons has been better than this and only two of Messi's.

It's even better than 88 if the total minutes played is correct. He's on 28 league goals, not 27.

That season from Messi is fucking abnormal. A goal every 62 minutes  :lmao :lmao

Edit - Sorry, just seen it's open play goals

For this, if it's only in the league, he has scored against 14 teams this season. He has the chance to make it 17 against Brighton, West Brom and Crystal Palace. He has lost his chance against Man United and Swansea, who are the only teams to stop him so far this season.

Now it looks as though he's here to stay
Oh I believe, in Yesterday

Suddenly
Luis Suarez seems like history
Salah scores and then goes on his knees
He scores those goals so suddenly

Why he had to go
Coutinho
He wouldn't stay

We said
"Salah's goals make us whole"
Scored four today-ay-ay-ay

Yesterday
Mohammed Salah seemed so far away
Now it looks as though he's here to stay

The stat about him becoming our leading scorer as far as debut seasons go has got me thinking, surely there aren't many players who in their first season at any club have done 40 odd goals or more

That is fucking absurd. He's not even a proper striker.

Going to be very fucking hard to keep hold of him so it's vital we keep building the team so we can get his best years. He really has the potential to be a Liverpool legend

Good lyric PoP but don't look back when there's a negative element, only positive. Fuck the leavers and unbelievers, sing about now. Seriously, Coutinho needn't be ever mentioned again except in a season overview about how he fucked Jurgen Klopp's plans and was a scab in August 2017.
