I've just had to format my hd and now have an empty itunes on my computer but loads of files on my ipod touch. Is there anyway i can transfer the files from my touch to my itunes library.

It's telling me my touch is synched to another library and the only way it can synch to itunes i have now is by deleting everything off th touch and synching with my empty library

You could always use this

The page also has links to third party programms, which also do the job.

Does this mean you have to rename all your songs when theyve been transferred?

Right click a song in iTunes, click "get info", click "options" and look for "remember playback position"

iTunes has stopped playing songs for me - I have no idea why.

Click play, it just sits at 00:00 - even if it's skipped to a new song on 'Shuffle' or something.

No idea what's wrong with it...

Save your library, de-install iTunes, download the latest version and try again, pointing it to your saved library when asked.

You can daisy chain them as well if you buy more than 1

So... was sitting in the airport, listening to my iPod.  For a bit, the screen went black but it was still playing music.  Then about 20 minutes later the music stopped.  I can't turn it on, can't re-set it, it doesn't work if I plug it into my PC.  Any suggestions or is it finished?

I would hold off and save a little bit more and invest in a quality set. £50 can get you a decent set of JBL speakers.

My lad's iPod hadn't been used for months and when we tried to coax it back to life we got the sad smiley face as an error message.

Tried to link it to the PC and then recharge it straight from the mains but nothing.

Did some research and read twice what I thought was a tongue in cheek reference to giving it a slap on the back of it.

Eventually, got convinced and did it.

Hey presto - it booted up and is good as new.

Sorry if this has been posted on previous pages.

Just received the iPod Touch for a birthday present and am loving it so far.  I have it connected to my wireless internet whilst at home but would love to have internet access while on the move or away from home as well.

I also have a Vodafone 3G card for work which is just in USB form which allows me to connect to the internet and work remotely on my laptop.

How likely is that I could somehow connect this 3G card to my iPod Touch to keep internet connection (obviously slower) outside the house?  Could I use the white iPod connector cable (with the USB connection on one end) with some kind of USB to USB connection plug?

Anyone tried this or found other ways to have internet connection on the move?

The iPhone has all the capability you are after and you can phone people on it as well.

The only thing I've heard of working is taking a PDA/Windows Mobile Device that has 3G access around with you and then attaching to it using the a adhoc wireless network.  So you can carry 2 devices around with you instead of one.

There is no way to just plug in a 3G card to your iPod Touch.

Ok thanks mate, thought that could be the case. I received the iPod as a present and have a blackberry for work so don't really want the extra cost (or to offend by taking my present back). Thanks all the same.

right, so my computer went into a coma. i had to service it, and that meant reinstalling windows, and as a result all the programs that i had installed don't work and among them is iTunes. i've downloaded and installed iTunes again, but my library is gone.

therein lies the problem, i can't sync my ipod. i'd have to wipe it clean and then build the whole library up again, which frankly i'd rather avoid. getting all the album artwork was a pain in the arse as was everything else really, so i'd really appreciate any help.

Apart from Blackberry App World, where do you get your apps from?

I had something similar, bought a product called cucosoft iPod to Computer transfer - took a while to move everything across but saved the hassle.

Also in the past I've plug my iPod in without installing iTunes. Copy everything across, install iTunes  and then point iTunes to this folder.

I couldn't do this with my recent iPod so not sure if it was something apple corrected with software upgrades.

cheers for the responses

lifesaver!

currently every download on the internet is crocked or something, the installation just wont run; but i guess it will be sorted soon so i'll download it then.

but i think it'll do the trick.

funny thing is i have my old library in an xml file, but fascinatingly iTunes doesn't seem to have an 'import library' option. even though there's an 'export library' option. and it doesn't react at all when i drag the file in, even though it shows the little plus. :butt

Got a real problem with loads of the movies and tv shows i download into itunes cocking up halfway through and then saying the file appears to be corrupted.

The only advice it has it to try and check again for available downloads but it still does it, its not the laptop though as it also does it with the same itunes account on my home PC.

Any ideas?
