Stelios Manolas - CB (Greece)

"As a young player, owing to his solid technical training, his dynamism and perception, as well as a winning spirit, he was able to offer both in the team's defense and attack. He was the mastermind of the defense and at the same time the one who influenced the whole team more than any other person, boosting the confidence of his teammates. He was a stopper and a libero, although he was first recognised as a right-back, a position assigned to him Miltos Papapostolou."

During his glorious career, Manolas often attracted the interest of Greek and international clubs, but chose never to change his shirt.  Stelios Manolas' last match was against Skoda Xanthi, a match that earned him his 700th cap. He was AEK F.C.'s captain for 19 years.

Manolas had been targeted by Porto and Monaco but he stated: I will never leave the club I love and I want to retire at AEK.

Franjo Glaser - Yugoslavia

One of the great GKs and is the only Yugoslavian player to have won League titles pre and post war.

He has saved/prevented 73 of 94 pens he has faced and puts him in Lev Yashin territory in penalties.

Georgi Asparuhov - Bulgaria

He was voted the best Bulgarian footballer of the 20th century, ahead of Hristo Stoichkov. He is considered to be the greatest Bulgarian footballer of all time and is placed 40th on the list of all-time best footballers by FIFA.

With Levski Sofia's stadium named in his honour, he's lesser known outside Bulgaria as some of the players who played in bigger leagues from Bulgaria, but in and around his country, he's known to be one of the greatest players they have produced.

Dragan Holcer

Holcer was born in captivity in a Nazi prison camp to Slovenian father Franc Holcer and Italian-Austrian mother Ida Orelli who lived in Niš. His father fought in World War II as part of Yugoslav Partisans. His father was killed in battle while his pregnant mother was rounded up in Slovenia and imprisoned in Germany along with her three daughters. Shortly after the war ended his mother took the family to her hometown Niš in Serbia where Holcer grew up.

On the national level he played for Yugoslavia national team (52 matches), and was a participant at Euro 1968.

Holcer, who was considered to be a legend of Hajduk Split, died in Split on 23 September 2015, aged 70.

Florian Albert

With my last pick I pick only the third Balon D'Or winner of this draft. Considered one of Hungary's greatest ever player. He displayed his talents on world stage at the 1962 world cup and 1966 world cup. Winning the golden boot at the former and making the team of the tournament at the latter. He was also the top scorer in the European Cup in 1967 which earned him a Balon D'Or. He was born to a Hungarian Croat Mother. Source wiki and this Croatian article I found that has been checked by Defacto.

Stipe Pletikosa - Croatia

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Alexandru Apolzan

It was the Romanian Apolzan who invented the libero role while at Steaua Bucureşti , however, Apolzan played during the darkest period in the history of Romania, when the connections with the outside world were almost cut completely.
He was a complete player being able to play in all defensive positions and even started out his career as a forward. He had an impecable aerial game(was nickanmed Apollozan in reference to the greek sun god) , had a strong and accurate shot with both feet and possessed imbecable technique and elegance in both offensive and defensive play , never showing struggle. He was also an icredibly fast player , as his former team mate Ilie Savu recalls , he raced with multiple Balkan Champion at the 100 meter dash , Ion Moina and was beaten only at the last steps. He was clocked at 11 seconds over 100 meters with the heavy football boots.
Hungarian coach Gusztáv Sebes, builder of the great Hungarian team from the first half of the 1950s - the Magical Magyars, said in 1954, after the 1954 FIFA World Cup that Apolzan, Ion Voinescu and Titus Ozon are at the same level as his own Hungarian players and that he would be proud to be able to coach them.
