It's a minor thing that will be sorted in no time. I'm just waiting for Samsung to stop supplying Apple as Samsung provide a fair bit of the iPhone components.

Should have one of these by Friday.

If you're not affected by the embargo anounced today? I believe they've also blocked some sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab over IPad IPR infringements.

I'd love one of these but cannot justify it after recently trading in an Iphone 3G 8Gb + £100 for a second hand 3GS 32Gb, a lot of dough for the extra 24Gb.  >:(

I also bought a San Francisco to use as a 3G tethering device, reflashed it with Android 2.3.4 and I think its a great operating system. Web browsing is much faster than the Iphone, in fact the Iphone seems to be getting slower. I wonder if it is down to Safari having compatibilty problems with later websites.

My S2's just stopped vibrating for texts and other notifications in the past week or so, really annoying. Did the diagnostic test and the vibration works, same as it does when I turn the phone off and it plays the off animation. Just refuses to for texts for some reason, so if I've got my phone on silent I can't tell if I've got a notification or not.

Vibration's enabled in settings, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

The San Francisco on Android has really opened my eyes. Apple is becoming a bit tiresome with this business about being locked to a network supplier, not being allowed to use the phone as a tehthering device, even though you've already paid for the data and not being able to add more memory.

The Android phone I bought brand new was easily unlocked and rooted so that I could change networks and set up for tethering, I can add a 32Gb SD card for about £25. Apparently there was a bug with the WIFI dormant mode, I went to the Android market and downloaded a fix. Could you image that with an Apple product, well in a timely manner anyway? This S2 is without doubt the best Android phone out there in my opinion, the only thing the Android's seem to lack compared to the Iphone is the games, but I think Android will catch up over the next year.

Mine arrived few days ago...pissed me off at first as you can't import VCF files (all my desire contacts were backed up no vcf)...anyway. Just exported everything to google and synched it up

Kiels s/w isn't the best. On my main PC it messes with the floppy drive (yes i still have one - running few VMs so thought i may need it). So decided to install it on ym laptop, but keeps failing with MTP driver failure ???

this phone is rather awesome

one question, more android that phone specific, is there such an app that would allow roaming on other apps, so say i wanted viber to work when i'm in the republic of ireland, but no other apps? is there a way i could enable one app to roam while preventing all the rest

Got one of these Saturday. Set it up and then got a text from O2 this morning saying I had used 80% of my data overnight. Customer services dont know what it is so wondering if anyone here knows what could be eating data?

Also, any way to transfer contacts from my iphone to this?

Yup. I accidentally stepped on mine and it's fine. I accidentally dropped it from about 5 feet and it's fine. I also have it in the same pocket as my keys, I've had it for about a month and a half and it hasn't got a single scratch. Bit smudgy from my fatty fingers though.

I've probably jinxed it now.

Upload/sync your contacts to gmail (http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252)

then sync your S2 to your gmail contacts.

I am thinking of buying one of these but am a bit worried re internet usage - currently i am on a sim only deal with free internet - however i think it actually goes upto 500mb - the only time i ever exceeded that was whilst i was abroad and the charges were extra but have never done whilst in the uk - am i likely to need more than 500mb? think the next level up is 1gb...

I'm on O2 PAYG and trialing the 100mb/month O2 bolt which costs £3 per month. To be honest it is only just enough and I might revert back to the 500mb/month at £6, its easy to check your usage on O2 by texting balance to 20202. Giff Gaff which runs on O2 are currently charging 20p /day for upto 20mb, its more difficult to check the balance with them but you can download an Android app to monitor 3G usage.

I thought i was a big internet user but when i checked for my upgrade i was averaging bout 120mb per month.

If you've got wifi at home and use free wifi where poss you should be ok with 500mb.

I think GS Plus is slightly cheaper and does not have flash for the camera...but if you aint seeing price difference on contacts, I would say take GS2 as it is the most "complete" phone compare the GS Plus

Got myself an S2 a couple of weeks ago to replace my crappy iPhone, love it.

With the iphone i had a rediculous amount of problems, including gps that kept losing track of me when driving (thinking i'd taken a detour into a field, peoples back gardens, or side streets, or that i'd done a uturn whilst driving at 70) and failing to charge. Then there were the alarm problems where it would fail to go off - known problem fixed later by apple, but if they can't get something simple like an alarm working what hope is there for the rest of the phone?

Then there are the other simple things that make the samsung better - such as you can have a spare battery and can extend the memory with a memory card - as i say simple things that you can get even with much cheaper phones.

I was told by several people that i couldn't critcise the iphone until i've owned one - well i have now and i hate almost everything about it.

Using it as an overpriced ipod now, as unfortunately my S2 doesn't work with my car radio, can plug the iphone in through usb and control via steering wheel buttons.

Anyway, as this is an S2 thread i'll shut up about the iphone now :-)

I read reviews about this phone after buying it (always do it the wrong way around) and some said that it drew loads of attention - its true. First day at work everyone wanted to look at it, one is going to get one himself today. Went to the local shop and put it down a sec to sort out my money, all the staff were straight over wanting a look.

Only thing i am struggling to get a grip of is the keyboard - i find the . is in the wrong place as i use my right thumb for pressing space and end up with .'s everywhere. Sure i'll get used to it.

Oh, other thing is, I can't put the dann thing down! :-)

"You have to admire animals. Hamster spun round in a wheel three times bigger than him and abruptly lands on his back. Then just gets up and carries on as if nothing happened! If that was a human he'd be helicoptered to hospital, off work for 6 months have back issues for 20 years and then start legal proceedings against the wheels owner"
