I'm interested and excited about his appointment, I'll be even more so if we get a strong DoF in too.

Are we even getting a DOF now? Reports everywhere saying that we aren't interested in appointing one and are giving Brendan full control

Great appointment, hope everyone gets behind him and gives him TIME! I hope there's no "Rodgers for England" shite either.

Exciting times; I don't see us shooting up the table but, if we stick to a considered long term plan, and a pass-and-move ethos, and give the new manager some time and some patience, if we can try to enjoy the highs but still learn to live with the lows, then this could be a great appointment.

I wish the new manager all the best and give him my full support.

Excited about this appointment now it's made.

Let's be honest, Spurs and Chelsea were very interested in him and we've done well to get him. He has his teams playing properly, and if he can make Danny Graham and Joe Allen play as they did this season he should do wonderfully with Lucas, Suarez etc.

Well it's certainly a bold appointment, that shouldn't be a surprise though, it's been on the cards. Certainly a better appointment than Martinez i think. Whatever happens now he must be given time, we are desperate for some stability. Will be intersting to see what develops with the sporting director role, if anything.

Welcome Brendan & good luck!

its good that its finally sorted. I'll be honest and say I am a little under whelmed but lets see what he can do. I don't care what anyone says, he will have to hit the ground running because the majority in this thread will be on his back after a few miserable results.

Hopefully he can deliver and move the club forward

Apparently he was first choice and FSG seem to have got their man. Now, let's hope he gets time and a decent transfer kitty. A lot of people probably want him to fail, let's hope he can prove doubters wrong.
And now we can finally start looking at some transfer targets!

Welcome BR.
Unhappy that Rafa wasn't considered, unhappy that Kenny was ditched.
However, Rodgers could turn out to be a very good appointment.
I sincerely hope so.
I also hope he is given the time to do the job

True, but there does only seems to be a few whoppers this time thank god. I was getting worried at one point but most phone ins and interviewees on ssn seem to be behind it and even if they're not happy they're willing to get behind 100%.

I thnki a 3 year contract is exactly what we'll get, unless we're in relegation zone and Rafa's break glass in emergency case is sprung which I doubt highly.

1st mould and train the team how you want it done.
2nd year have a crack at the top 4 (if he achieves top 4 in year 2 then they'll be an contract extension)
3rd achieve top 4 no less or no renewal of contract

Quite pleased with Rodgers. I'm still not convinced by FSG on the whole, their sacking of Kenny was, at the very least, misjudged, and in my opinion was pretty disgraceful. It'll take a lot to convince me that they know what they're doing or that they do actually have a grand plan in place to take us to the top, but the arrival of someone like Rodgers is a positive stop. It'll be nice to see the old pass-and-move philosophy back at Anfield again too, it's been too long. We probably haven't really seen that since Roy Evans left. Kenny tried to get us playing in the right way, but Rodgers seems embedded in that philosophy, and I'm looking forward to seeing us dominate possession and trying to play with a bit of style again. I'm sure he can implement that at least, if he could do that with the players he had at Swansea then there's no reason to think he won't be able to do that here. I hope he is given full support at all levels and that he is afforded the right environment to succeed.

Neither overwhelmed or underwhelmed.... just whelmed I suppose.

Anyway, as long as he's Liverpool Manager he'll get my 100% backing.  Just think, in 15 years time you may be able to say "I remember when Boss Brendan came to Anfield and it all started"

Apparently he's using up holiday entitlement to study Del Bosque with the Spain squad. And now make buddy's with Pepe Reina and convince Javi Martinez to play for us.

Welcome Brendan Rodgers. I loved his style of football last season by out passing teams off the park... Was aggressive with his style despite not having arguably good players. He showed what he could do by turning a bunch of ordinary players from the championship that no one ever heard of and virtually no hope in staying up, into the most attractive football teams in the premiership. He has made a name for every one of those players and its a massive credit and shows the pedigree of the man. We have no sugar daddy, we live in a time where money is tight, so rodgers is perfect to get the mist oit of this bunch we have now. If he can do this with Swansea city he can damn well do it with Liverpool football club. I welcome him with open arms.

was wondering this too.
I was assuming Martinez didn't take the job because of not wanting to work under a DOF.

surely that whole DOF plan isn't going out the window already?
I'd be amazed and a bit concerned if that was the case.
I'm still hoping we get Van Gaal in.

I think its possible for us to achieve it sooner then that. 5th or 6th place finish next season and then push on from there the following season after. Of course I mate it sound really easy and it isn't really, I know that. But it isn't impossible. It all depends on how well the squad responds to Brendan and what signings he makes.

i'm so excited to be honest...

our legends in the past, they were far ahead of their generation (Shankly,Paisley,Fagan,Kenny),...thats why Brendan is the right man for the job, he's very ahead of everyone in premier league, and soon enough he's going to be in Europe...

Could NOT agree more.

Too be honest I think he will be given time. I think the Hodgeson appointment was unfortunate and convenient at the time. I think Kenny was originally brought in to steady the ship, but did so well they thought they should give him a try. I don't think it had anything to do with the results this season. I am of the opinion they just didn't think he was the right man to take us forward, it didn't have everything to do with how the season went. I know it's an opinion and I can't really back it up I just feel like FSG know what they're doing and will give him the time he needs.

Go to meet senior players like Gerrard and ease Reina's mind?

Appoint his backroom staff?

Get in new players?
