Alloy,
Would you want to be the Police Officer/Paramedic/Fireman who is mopping you up off the floor when you've shot through a windscreen, had the majority of skin ripped off your back and head from going through it, and then proceeded to skid along the gravel surface, cheese grating the entire front part of your body? Should any person [regardless of whether you say "Oh, well thats there job" deserve to turn up to a scene like that?
Especially when it can be avoided by taking barely 1 second to pull a material strap across your body?
As for the Police being arsey with you.....theres no doubt there are some beauts who are bizzies, but on the other hand do you think maybe your views on this law of seat belts meant that your attitidue was bad, couped with the fact you had come off a night shift, maybe you played a part in this too?
Bascially, this arguement annoys the fuck out of me as its so easily avoidable and easy to do, and it COULD save your life.
For those who have been in a crash at any speed will verify, the seatbelt plays its part....maybe you just need to be the 1st person driving past one of these scenes to understand the horrors of it and make you realise. Or maybe have a mate in the car and see them shoot through the window, and then have to face their family to explain what you saw.
Bottom line, it is the law - if you wanna make it for money reasons then fair do's.....but it is the law, and so if you CHOOSE not to do it, then you run the risk of being caught and occasionally fined as bizzies use discretion.
Oh, and from March [i think] its going to mean points on your licence too.
Why? Cos the only way people seem to pay any attention to the law is if it costs them money - either directly by fine [which it obviously doesnt deter people enough as your not arsed - or by putting points on a licence and seein insurance rise]
Why am I so anti your views? Cos I think society is going to shit as it is, far too namby pamby on shit these days.
Rant over.
