So that big bad decision to remove the headphone jack on the iPhone.... seems Samsung are ditching it on their next phone too.

Been due for an upgrade since September so finally today I decided to upgrade from my Samsung S5 to the iPhone 7. I had an iPhone previous to the S5 and much preferred that to the s5 even though all I heard was that Samsung was much better. For the past year or so on my s5 I've have problems with storage space. So decided to go back to apple and the iPhone. I may regret it or I may not!

Anyway got an iPhone 7 and if so what are their experience of it?

My phone has suffered with just dropping charge when on about 20-30% looks like Apple finally admitted its a fault and offering replacement batteries for iPhone 6S from Sept-October 2015 - i bought mine in November 2015 but checking the following link mines included

https://www.apple.com/support/iphone6s-unexpectedshutdown/

Just need to get a reservation with Apple to repace

I've had the 7 for a few weeks. I can't say it's a massive upgrade on my previous 5s but the extra storage space and Apple Pay etc are nice additions. Not sure about the wireless EarPods though, waste of money!

I have a 6s and my missus has the 7. The differences are so miniscule it's hard to believe. Maybe some techy will tell me of all these amazing differences I'm not noticing. But I was taking pictures, using apps, listening to music on the speakers etc. and couldn't notice a thing.

Design wise it's pretty similar, same size just a little lighter (think about 5g). Few slight design changes like the antenna strips and headphone jack, as well as the home button being different. It also has waterproofing which the 6s doesn't.

Screen is apparently brighter so should look a bit better, but same dpi as the 6s. Both front and back camera have been improved.

Processor and GPU have been upgraded, the benchmarks seems to show a pretty big improvement but for general day to day use it's probably not something you'd automatically notice as not like the 6S is slow.

It's definitely not a massive upgrade though. I've got the 6 and skipped what should have been an upgrade this year as it didn't really offer enough of an upgrade for me to bother with and will wait for the 8 next year which is highly likely to be the big upgrade which is due.

Difference will come a couple of years down the line when you need to load the latest iOS onto it and the 6S gets a bit laggy whereas the 7 would likely still be pretty quick. I just had upgraded from a 5S which had become laggy. I also have a 6+ for work and it feels incredibly slow compared to the 7 now.

I wouldn't upgrade from a 6S to be honest, but no brainer to upgrade from one of the earlier iterations.

Def no need to from a 6 unless something is up with it. Had mine from day of release and it runs just as fast now over 2 years later. Will obviously do things slightly slower than the 7 would, but it's hardly noticeable in day to day use.

Yeah probably not noticeable unless you get used to the speed of a 7 - I hate using the work phone now.

Not easily...

You can get apps that will do it for you in the future though

Says current session is 8gb, but no idea when that started. My lad is with giffgaff. His goody bag started yesterday. He should have 2gb, but says on the giffgaff page he's used it all. He insists he was only in his mums since yesterday and has been on WiFi the whole time. Will need to contact giffgaff I suppose.

Settings -> Mobile Data

Below where it shows total use it is broken down app by app, so it'll help you narrow down which app(s) have used most of the data, you can then turn mobile data off for those apps.

Anyone with a 7 recommend a good screen protector? One of them glass type ones preferably. Bought a JE Tech one which is the same type we got for an iPad and it's been great but the phone one does cover as much of the screen, there's like 5mm gap all the way round.

Upgraded from the 5S to 6S yesterday. I backed up the 5S on iTunes and then went to set up the new phone. But the new phone won't connect to iTunes for me. Whenever i have iTunes open and connect the cable a pop up message appears saying "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an invalid response was received from the device." I've tried different cables, different USB slots, I have the most up to date iTunes, I updated the phone....

Any ideas on what to do? :wave
