Seemed to have learnt a bit based on todays performance.

Shame he won't get a preseason with Klopp as I honestly think they would get him way better tactically over a preseason.

Probably his best game for us, looked like he was getting to grips with the pace and physicality. Said it before, time to judge him will be next season with a full preseason under his belt.

Ball just sticks to him when he’s in full flow, lovely to see. That plus the off the ball work today is a great combo.

I thought this was his best game for a while. He has an ability to glide past people but he does need to work on retaining or winning the ball and the signs are that he has been working on doing so. He has all the attributes of being an excellent player if he works on his pressing and tackling.

He's just as inconsistent as always. There was a moment in the first half when he escaped pressure with Iniesta-like footwork, but then failed to release the ball right after that. Maybe a coach with focus on short passing like Alonso can sort him out.

Don't think it was his best game for us but he was really good when he came on. In general he's done quite well so far with Liverpool, showing glimpses of the player he may promise to become. Big chance for him to fight for more minutes going forward now, would start him against Luton.

Good game from him yesterday, especially under those circumstances. Felt like he was more involved defensively and made a few tackles that led to counters.

Given our current injury situation, he will be important the next few months.

It's up to him now to grab a first 11 spot, with no Curtis or Szobo we're pretty bare in midfield now. He's had the time to settle in and learn the way we play, now is his opportunity. He's got a chance to start in a Cup Final, and show why Jürgen chose him.
I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

Used his physicality a lot more yesterday which was good to see. He's a big lad and should be looking to dominate. The way he glides with the ball is really nice to watch.

He’s become a lot more important all of a sudden. Don’t have the luxury of waiting for him to get up to speed anymore with both Jones and Szoboslai out he’s going to be starting a lot.

Time to step up now. The ability is obviously there, although I am bit underwhelmed so far. Done better yesterday and hopefully he can deputise whilst others are out. Good luck lad.

He's only 21!  give him a break, for some reason there is a far greater weight of expectation on him than others of his age

True he's young but he was heralded as a major talent at a very early age. Had two big managers at Bayern who have not really got into his head or thought of him as a first-teamer. Still seems a bit raw, now sadly his few months with Klopp will have to be a crash course.

That said, if he can grab his chance, maybe just maybe there is someone who knows a thing or two about midfield play on the horizon.

If the possible happens and Xabi ends up as our manager, I can't imagine a manager who would be able to work with and refine his attributes more than him.

He goes missing during games a problem he already had with Ajax and is better with open space so he can run. A squad player, nothing more IMO.

I imagine it's the same clowns and divvys that were writing off young Curtis, I'd pay them no mind. Just like Jones, the talent is already evident with Grav. Just needs time and work to put it together on consistent basis. Only 21 as you say.

No he doesn't, he just isn't fully intune with how we press which is so tightly tuned one player a yard out of sync and it causes problems.

He was much improved against Brentford, certainly suits the left sided midfield role better, he was winning duels, beating men and contributing in both attack/defence.

He wasn't perfect, he made mistakes. But he was genuine. He had the best interests of the club at heart, and gave us a plethora of successful teams that we should have been thankful for.

He was improved because there was a lot space between the lines of Brentford. I hope he continue’s but I won’t hold my breath.

He's only 21.  In three years he will still only be 24 which is the average age of many of our signings in the Klopp era.  People always talk about signing players before they become great/world class, we'll this is often what it looks like.

This kid has all the skill in the world and if he combines that with required hard work on the training pitch (looking at you Raheem) and gym he is going to be a monster player for us in the future.

There are many reasons why I'm hoping Alonso is our next manager, but his potential influence on midfielders like Mac, Szobo and Ryan are one of the main ones.
Raúl barely had a kick. The nearest he got to greatness was when he shook Gerrard by the hand.   Times - Mar 10,2009.

Of all the players i reckon he will be the most nervous. Klopp and the coaches clearly have rated him and show belief in him for a long time but he will be acutely aware that a number of managers havent done that.

A new manager is a chance for everyone to show their worth. Once he's had the benefit of a proper pre-season we will see what he is truly capable of.
