Don't forget the good old sandwich. British food in general was awful for a long time but it's really come on in recent years and, having travelled around a bit, it's easily as good as you'd get in most places and a lot of the most interesting food stuff worldwide is happening in the kitchens of British chefs. Compare it to France, where their cuisine is stuck in a time warp and a lot of what you get in the average cafe is mediocre at best.
