Wales are undoubtedly doing well, but they are now ranked above England (fine), Spain(!?), and Holland. Romania are also above those teams. Seems like teams are doing "a Switzerland" and playing the system (ie. By not having many friendlies which dilute the points coefficient to make it easier to har a high ranking).

http://m.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/ranking-table/men/index.html
Holland are in turmoil at the moment, can't even beat Island at home.

Apparently if Wales beat Israel we go at least 4th best in the world but if Belgium and Germany drop points then we go second.

Wales could be 2nd best team in the world ,I must be fucking dreaming ;D

I would root for Wales in France, but they're a one man team.

I grew up in Wales, love Wales, and want them to do well, but surely that shows the FIFA ranking system is flawed...  Wales are not the 4th best team in the world.

Gareth Bale is an exceptional player but in Ramsey and Ashley Williams Wales do have other stellar players.  Oh what I wouldn't give to have Ashley Williams play for Liverpool, the guy is an absolute rock in defence and vastly underrated. It's the sum of all the parts that make Wales tick though.  All the players contribute.  Robson Kanu runs himself into the ground each time which creates space for Bale and Ramsey to exploit.  King, Ledley, Allen and Dave Edwards all protect the back four and in defence we have strength in depth at last, Williams, Chester, Dummett, Ben Davies, Collins, Taylor all premier league players.

The key thing for me though, and it's almost like a perfect storm of everything coming together and planets aligning and shit is the terrible treatment Bale has received at Madrid by player, press and fans and in particular that twat Ronaldo.  Even when he plays well, scores a brace and creates another, his first thought is, I'm off to play withe the Welsh squad again soon, wahey!  His sheer desire to succeed for, and with, a team of players that he has been playing with for many years (thanks to Toshacks policy of blooding youngsters) is bearing fruit for Wales and boy oh boy, it's a fucking exciting time!!

C'mon Cymru!!

Good spine in the squad.

Williams in defence, Allen-Ramsey midfield with Bale winning games. Just needs the rest of the team to do their job.

Yeah Wales have done well and are reaping the benefit of blooding quite a lot of youngsters a few years ago. Most (if not all) of the team seem to be Premier League based these days (maybe not Robson-Kanu?). Swansea getting promoted and doing so well has probably been a big help in terms of exposing the likes of Davies and Taylor to international players week in week out.

2 goals conceded in 7 matches has got fuck all to do with Bale being in the team ,yes we probably wouldn't be in this position if he wasn't playing but the side as a whole has performed brilliantly as well, especially the defense.

I remember reading a few years ago that John Charles was voted the best ever foreign import to play in Serie A. That says it all really.
