Given that Ornstein knew of the West Ham stuff, it seems as though he is getting his info from Amorim's people on this? So maybe it's just that they don't believe that he is our top target, rather than us telling him that he's not.

They could have also leaked the West Ham stuff to try and force our hand / get us to speed things up.

I think it's more Ornstein get's things from his sources here rather than in Portugal.

I don't think Ornstein has been told he's not our top target. I think he's received info of us interviewing multiple candidates and not progressing with Amorim as if he is the top target...and he's correctly said Amorim is nowhere near nailed on and we're considering multiple candidates. That simple really.

The West Ham thing is just Amorim considering all his options. He is free to interview for other roles considering he is likely to leave Sporting. Just as we are interviewing multiple targets. Ornstein also saying West Ham is not Amorim's first option shows the door is probably not closed here.

Mourinho would send us back years.

He's done at top level club football, he should be doing International Football now.
"Since its purchase by the sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Manchester City has managed to cheat its way into the top echelon of European football and create a global, immensely profitable football empire, ignoring rules along the way. The club's newfound glory is rooted in lies."

Winning at PSG is just never going to be impressive and their Champions League run has been unbelievably kind. Like I said, last impressive thing he did was in Klopp's first year here and that was with Messi, Neymar and Suarez as his front 3. Having a higher win percentage than Klopp given the teams he's managed isn't anything impressive, it'd be bad if it wasn't higher. Xavi has had a more impressive run as Barca manager when you compare the squads they had.

Ok mate, CBA arguing with you. He's got a better CV than anyone linked. If you don't like his CV then that's your prerogative.

Also, the bolded bit, he literally has not - on any metric.

Xavi won the league with a much worse squad than what Enrique had.  Winning more trophies isn't more impressive if you have the much better players and that was still nearly a decade ago. Might as well be saying how greta Conte is at winning things

Keep up, we're down to either Kieran McKenna or Phil Parkinson.

Parkinson is the favourite as he's used to dealing with big stars (Reynolds, McElhenny)

Xavi's done nothing in Europe though, even when in Europa League. Enrique one of only 3 Barca managers to win a European Cup (and one of only two seasons in Spain where the treble has been achieved).

Both Madrid teams were stronger in that period as well and La Liga in general. Obviously Barca had a better side.

Could have done with Grujic and even Chirivella to tide us over this season

Looking at the National League, Chesterfield were dominant, on their way to over 100 points before fading after sealing promotion.  Over 100 goals scored.

Manager Paul Cook is from Kirkby.  Started playing career at Marine and his managerial career at Southport.  Familiar with the area.

Could be interesting.

Some basic rules of negotiation

Don't sound too keen (this weakens your bargaining position). Pundits will read this as 'not too keen'

Don't underprice yourself. Pundits will read this as 'the appointment will be expensive' (but the price always goes down)

Don't commit yourself to one course of action publicly (or even semi-private) as this weakens your bargaining position. Pundits read this as they are not committed to any one person.

That's why most speculation is crap because it's just sniffing around leaked bargaining positions and false trails.

It’s all just a genius marketing plan from FSG. Drip feed us info on Amorim to get us interested, then pull the rug by feeding Ornstein a line saying it’s not him, and then once our expectations have hit rock bottom they announce that it’s Amorim and we all go crazy and say FSG are the bestest ever!

The Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot has emerged as a leading candidate in Liverpool’s search for a replacement for Jürgen Klopp.

The 45-year-old led Feyenoord to success in the KNVB Cup final last weekend and has compiled a strong body of work in the Netherlands, having led the club to their first Eredivisie title in six years in the 2022-23 season.

In addition, Slot’s ability to improve players and his aggressive, high-octane playing style are attributes that would appeal to Liverpool’s kingmakers.

His Anfield ascension is far from a done deal and Liverpool are continuing to discuss other contenders as well, while managerial vacancies at Bayern Munich, Barcelona and AC Milan this summer complicate matters.

Can I just shock you? I like bald Dutch coaches, despite what I said earlier.

Don't know much about Slot but is what Amorim is doing all that more impressing than this guy? Pretty similar predicaments and hopefully no ridiculous 343 formation.
