Lallana will chip in with a few once he's back too, plus you'd imagine Gini will find the net a couple of times at some point.

On target to have at least 3 players (but probably 4) hit 15+ goals this season, pretty mad when we've had 0 do that since 13/14.

Coutinho was on 9 goals in April of last year, considering he's missed about a month or so of the season, he's already scored 9 so far.

Mane - 7 goals [4 assists]
Can - 4 goals [2 assists]

Firmino has bettered his tally from last year

Coutinho is already in double digits, he didn't manage to do that last season until the spriing.

Mane will have to pick it up. hes done well considering he has been playing below his standard and missed several games due to injury and suspension

Importantly, though, for the league:

Code: [Select]
Player Mins Goals Mins per Goal
Mohamed Salah 1597 17 94
Roberto Firmino 1499 9 167
Phil Coutinho 1116 7 159
Sadio Mané 924 4 231

Most title winners have had one attacker who scored 20+ league goals, and one other who scored 10+, then either other 10+ goals scorers or multiple scorers around the 5 goals mark.

Right now, we're hitting title-winning numbers.

We're really really bad at timing these type of numbers! Weren't we the only team in the 38 game era to have two 20+ scorers a few years back? Only for City to be that little bit more prolific yet again (103 goals v 102 I think it was).

Just a few short months ago people were going on about us needing to bring in a 20+ goalscorer.  We're currently on track to have 3 of them.

The system that Klopp has in place allows us to have multiple scorers, such is the beauty of that.

Milner also has like 8,9 assists I think.

The upside to this is that this team is more sustainable than that one. If you see the crux of that team in attack, Sterling was extremely young, Suarez wanted to leave, Sturridge was and is injury prone, Gerrard was nearing the end of his career.

Now, we have everyone hitting the right ages/peaks in their careers and apart from Coutinho the squad seems to be stable with quality additions added. If we manage to keep Coutinho, things will be even better.

Yep. The fact we've been so prolific despite Mane's recent poor return is testament to what you've said about sustainability. If one part of the machine isn't firing we're still capable of blowing teams away.

I could see Oxlade getting 8-10. He's had a slow start bedding into the squad but seems to be playing a fair bit more lately and he's looking pretty threatening. I could see Lallana chipping in with a few in the second half of the season too.

Cheers for clearing that up, Einstein.

The biggest reason they won so many games is because they were so prolific - the most English prolific team in a 38 game season in fact. Had they not been so prolific they wouldn't have won so many games.

It'll only ever be an official assist if the pass goes directly from that player to the scorer. But I agree with your point - so many goals are recorded as unassisted, but there's usually someone who has made an important contribution prior to the scorer.

Thanks for that analysis Bass, it's excellent. So basically for every 90mins they were on the pitch together they'd score 3 goals between them. That's a hell of a foundation for a team! Add in the odd goal from elsewhere and we're really talking. Even our (sometimes) comedy defence would be hard pressed to fuck that up.

Shame it was so brief....

Pete Best will be replaced with a new member who is there to provide a more consistent rythm. All will be well again and we will move on to a period of sell out heavy metal concerts at Wembley and various european cities.

Of the 7 games they played a considerable amount of minutes together, though, we won 3 and drew 4, with huge defensive problems at Sevilla and Arsenal. We were undoubtedly an explosive side with all four on the pitch together, but I certainly don't think we were a particularly well-balanced one.

Yeah I was never sure about the balance of the 4 together and hypothetically if we had a final tomorrow with all 4 here I'm not sure he'd pick them all. It's more the option that's gone and not yet been replaced that's fucking me off. Like one game go Salah, Bobby, Mane another go Mane, Bobby, Phil (and have an immense sub to bring on), if one got injured, lost form we still have the other 3 to cope etc etc. As it is we've lost that and now if one gets injured we'll have to run two in to the ground or put in a replacement nowhere near their level. Hopefully that's rectified before the end of the window because as good as Lallana and Alex can be that's in the middle not out wide.
