Sporting Life have a fantasy league set up for Euro2004.

Yup I have added my team, was quite impressed with it until I realised I needed a manager too!! Had to do a bit of changing round then!! Cant believe someone stuck Gary Neville in their team, what yer thinking? We need more entries quickly, we need to beat KrapTalk which is currently second in amount of teams per league.

I used to play the fantasy soccer for the EPL. Did not bad. Let's discuss some tactics.

Formation is impt
Strikers score 3 pts, Midfielders 2 pts, key thing is to remember that no points will be given for an assist. So u need to get goalscorers and not creative players in your team. Forget abt playmakers that take free kicks and corners, go for the attacking players that score from midfield, like Scholes, Nedved etc.

Manager
This is quite different from the EPL fantasy. Got to try and get the team that will stay in contention all the way

Transfers
Don cost you at all. So with 40 tx the whole league, u can take advantage of the different kick-off times and tx them out and in. For e.g. forget abt Henry in your first day : with teams being Portugal vs Greece and Spain vs Russia. Maybe can consider starting out with Gomez/Pauleta and Raul first and then tx when Henry plays.

Koptalk has a league with 191 teams in it.

The league of leagues is done on average points though, so we should be able to beat them.

The site seems to be playing up today, often pages won't load, and the league table seems a bit off - given people about 20 more points each than we should have

(unless that's just me and I am really way behind everyone)

I think reason is because points are awarded for a win also. So if u had picked Portugal or Italy (like I did last night

) we'd be really screwed...

I am only 35 and 40pts and used up 12 tx already..

We have 40 tx , lets make use of it..

Better to go for Czech players who are regular.. today vs Latvia, players like Nedved, Rosicky, Baros, Koller..Holland and Germany would I think battle to a stalement, worst if it is something like 1-1, u get no points for the win, and no clean sheets either...

There are 2 ways to go abt it.. one way is to use most of the tx during the prelim rounds because u expect that in the semis and final the better teams would be there and hence fewer goals will be scored..meaning less points - so grab it first, games vs Latvia, Bulgaria, etc.
(although look where that got me for Italy and Portugal...

)

But then there is also another thinking, save ur tx until the semis, then change the WHOLE team to players from one team and hope that team wins, meaning tons of points then..

I think it is still very young, we can still make it.. let's go people - the league of the leagues!

The site seems to have sorted itself out today and got the points back to normal, I have less than yesterday despite having got 11 for Larsson! I'm way off the top now though, anyone know who the johnny's giants is? He's racing away.

The transfer thing is a tricky business. I've tried to work mine out so I have as many at the end as now - some people are going to run out if they carry on, but maybe they know what they're dong, building up a big lead now

Redlady,

The detractors from your tactics would say that the best chances of getting points are in the prelim rounds. That is where there is a great imbalance in terms of the teams, i.e. Latvia, Greece with the stronger ones like France, Spain etc.

To score points u need goals, clean sheets and your team to win.. when the semis come, the weaker ones would have been eliminated and imagine if u have like Holland vs England etc. where because of how even the teams are, they battle out to a 1-1 draw which is prob the worst result us fantasy players would want.. so if u use ur tx then u do not stand to gain much..

On the other hand, u can use ur tx then and move an entire team say France into your team then and if they win, each playing player will get a win bonus etc.

I really donno, but I am leaning towards using most of ur tx in the earlier rounds, I could be wrong... only time will tell... good luck anyways!

I'm in second place.

I can see a few of us overtaking crazy-tony as he's almost ran out of transfers.

There are some lower down who could end up winning. TheLittleMenInTheFridge hasn't used any transfers, and Barleypool has just used the first 8 to make a team of Swedes.

If I had to pick some to win now it would be Redlady.
