Apologies if this has already been clarified, but what if the scores are level at the end of normal time? Do we go into extra time and penalties or will there be a return leg?

Extra-time and penalties if I'm not mistaken.

Return legs only in the FA Cup.

I hope we rest some, really. We have a match at Craven this weekend to....and that will be really important.

It's next Monday mate, 6 days is more than enough time to rest for it. I think we should gamble and play a strong team tonight and hope we come through without any injuries to key players, then get them rested up for the game at Fulham. I'll trust whatever team Kenny decides to play though.

If we do get through, I'd love Blackburn/Cardiff at Anfield in the semis. But beating United/City at Anfield under the lights after they held us to a draw would be too good to turn down.

Just wish we get a home draw if we get through this. No doubt in my mind we'd make it to Wembley then.
We will get a home draw.  The semi is 2 legs

Move I think about this. More I think that they have City coming up soon and the FA thing.

Can't blame him. It's the Carling Cup not the FA Cup, league, CL. I would play a weak team if I was them to be honest.

We need to win more than them.

Not sure that's necessarily true.

Like us, the Carling Cup represents Chelsea's best chance of silverware this year - they certainly aren't going to win the league and could be out of the CL in a couple of weeks.

VIt's their best chance of silverware, agreed, but Villas Boas is more likely to get sacked for a bad league or Champions League result than he is for defeat tonight and that could weigh on his mind, as ridiculous as that may seem.

Not until Monday though. Plenty of time. We can afford to rotate & still have a strong enough team really. The team that played at the weekend had a few of changes from the one that won at Chelsea

Agreed, I doubt the Carling cup means much to Abromovich.  Has anyone seen him at a CC game?  He does seem to get to quite a few league games, considering his worldwide interests!

This the team I predicted for the City match;
Quote
I would line up like this against City;
                        Reina
Johnson.   Skrtel.   Agger.   Enrique.
                Lucas.    Adam.
   Henderson.     Kuyt.     Maxi.
                       Suarez.

...and due to the changes I predicted in the same post that the team would be lined up against Chelsea like;

Quote
Then against Chelsea it can be considered like so;
                         Reina.
Kelly.    Carragher.    Coates.  Enrique/Aurellio
             Spearing. Adam/Lucas
   Hendo/Maxi.    Bellamy.    Downing.
                         Carroll

So apart from Downing and Maxi starting in different games I'd be very pleased with my self if I've predicted the right teams :P

Looking forward to this tonight. Shame it's not on anywhere but I guess it will be back to the Streams.

Reina

Kelly
Skrtel
Carra
Aurelio

Spearing
Henderson
Maxi
Kuyt

Bellamy
Carroll

Carroll is not suited against this type of opposition (Kenny said so himself) so he won't start tonight. On the other hand, our chances without Lucas would be minimal. Just swap those two and you have a very good lineup there.

What kind of game is it that Carroll is not suited to?

Please, please no Lucas.

I don't care that it might reduce our chances of victory 10% or so not to have him there.  He ran his legs off just two days ago; he needs a break or we risk injury or possibly seeing him wear out in March/April.  Give the lad a rest.  Other than that, I'm not too bothered about who is picked (though it'd be nice to see a young lad or two on the bench).

Depends where you at, Hank. Lots of channels outside England's showing this, however I haven't seen anybody mention any channel in England herself showing it(maybe foreign channel at some dodgy club/pub/bar :)). Dunno 'bout Ireland or Scotland though...

Depends if they're able to play, they've had monday to rest and thats pretty much it. The city game was hard work everyone put in alot throughout that match. Im sure everyone would love to be able to put out our strongest 11 but it wouldnt be worth it if by 60 minutes they're shattered and haven't got the energy to close down or drop back and it leaves us exposed at the back

I'd play Suarez, has done tougher things than playing two games in three days time. And Craig Douglas Bellamy, to play for Speed and to stick one upon John Terry's arse. And Maxi and Kuyt, no Carroll for me. Lucas and Henderson in the middle(maybe Spearing if any of them isn't fit enough). Kelly, Carra, Coates and Aurelio at the back. C'mon you Redmen!
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence.
