No. Coefficients are based on performances in Europe. We'll be in the third pot, so we'll have a difficult group one way or another.

Besides, we are going to have a much better and deeper squad next season anyway. The top talents in Europe will want to play for us, unlike previously when they would just snub us due to our absence in the competition.

good point re the financial fair play rule. We do need to get our finances in order, we will be scrutinised at the end of next season. Any players going out this year we'll need to get a healthy amount for. And sponsorship of the stands or the stadium will need to be considered (it made me sick saying that)

In all this title chasing madness (and one can only call it that given the target we set for ourselves this season - a target that many were doubtful we were going to achieve, for fuck's sake), it almost completely made me miss how monumental this is.

We. are. back. in. the. Champions League.

We have 3 games to play and are 7 points away from our first title in 24 years.

But we are back in the champions league.

And fuck me if that thought doesn't send goosebumps down my neck.

It does. We've a title challenge on our hands but I doubt many would have expected to qualify this comfortably. And not only that, we're guaranteed third which means no qualification playoffs needed and the worry of not actually knowing we're in the Champions League until next season starts. Terrific from Rodgers, now just win the next three games please.

We don't actually need that much, with the loaned players coming back/youth players getting better, Suso, Borini, Ibe, Illori, Wisdom and Robinson add the depth we need, don't expect a massive squad revamp just because we can theoretically do that, one or two senior players(esp. if we can find an attacking midfielder/winger from somewhere whose fantastic at long shots and possible a left back) and some youth maybe.

It doesn't matter if we come up against tough teams.

Liverpool is the last club any team wants to visit in Europe.

I predicted us to finish around 5th or 6th at the start of the season but with all the recent talk of winning the title I've inadvertently forgot what our main objective was, to get back into Europe. Our presence has been missed on Europe's biggest stage and getting back into this elite competition is absolutely huge for the club. Cannot wait for more magical European nights.

I'm very interested to see how this team and, in particular, Rodgers adapts to playing in Europe. I think BR has got it in him to get big results home and away but the proof will be in the pudding.
It's not going to be easy to even get out of the group (presumably we'll be in pot three) but it feels so good to be back. It's been too long without these European nights.

Brilliant stuff, no matter what happens this season(title) Brendan and the boys have exceeded expectation by getting a place for automatic qualification. I doubt very much at the start of the season anybody realistically thought we'd finish in the top three.

Great news for the club, get the big "marquee" name signings, more revenue to finance the stadium(partly) and above all the chance to make it number 6 in Berlin
